164 was mentioned by Loeffler after Golovkin himself said "Ward is dead to him" and after the negotiations with Ward & HBO broke down. Everybody in the business knew that fight was not happening until 2017 in June of 2015.

Now apparently it was a demand without which the fight would have never happened because Golovkin is the CW king.

Nope.

The only one ducking out of those is Canelo, since GGG offered to go to 154 for years to fight him, and Canelo refused. If you refuse to fight someone in your weightclass, that is ducking. Add to that Canelo now has a belt at 160, but will not fight GGG there.

You can bet your ass if Ward came down to 160, GGG would gladly put him in a body bag. If you are chasing someone, like Ward was chasing GGG, then you need to go their weight class. You can't demand someone come to you, especially when you are someone who no one cares about like Ward.

Still, it's a bit of stretch to say it's a duck when someone is not in your weight class. The only one ducking in that list is Canelo.
