Very little if any.

The sport would be greatly enhanced, imo, were the sanctioning bodies to downsize, diminish the number of belts and then pursue a strategy of exclusivity; gradually increase the sanctioning fee on a diminishing supply of titles. Maybe the wealthiest sanctioning body could buy out one or two of the weaker ones to further enhance their brand.

Then maybe they'd have some teeth.

Sure, weight divisions would dissolve, and total chaos would ensue because there are no rules to abide by. Every party does what they want when they want; there would be no functionality or order to anything at all.

Those clowns are contributing to the hype whether they realise it or not. Fighters with no buzz about them don't generate multiple hate threads on a daily basis.

But in the broader sense there is vastly more coverage of him than there is of, say, Sergey Kovalev, Roman Gonzalez, Terence Crawford, or Tim Bradley. Granted the KO factor comes into it but it's clear he has much more hype around him than most other fighters in the sport.

Agreeded. But I do think Gonzales would get more hype if he was a bit bigger.

And most times in history the MW champion is more popular than LHW champion. I'm not sure why but it has always been that way.

I get annoyed at this whole full 160 thing. It's the middleweight division. Golovkin wants to fight at the standard weight. There shouldn't be a full or partial weight. You either want to fight at middleweight or now. Canelo knows Golovkin very well from sparring at Big Bear. Either fight him at traditional division weight or dont. This sub division weight thing has to stop. If his coach thinks less of GGG as he says, then sign the contract without catch weight nonsense. Not the behavior of a champion..
