Comments Thread For: Golden Boy Promotions To Stay Busy in 2016

Golden Boy Promotions staged their last card of 2015 this past Friday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. As the calendar soon turns to the new year, they will once again have a busy schedule fight cards in 2016.

That's good to hear. As long as they keep putting up some good fights

Why Estrella tv AND la fight club?

Can't they just put their prospects on one network?

They were the sole promoters consistently trying to put on good shows this year, and doing so, hard not to be a fan and wish them well in their efforts

Keep expanding Golden Boy. You guys did a good job rebounding this year.
You guys made us boxing fans pleased with Golden Boy by putting good fight cards and events for your fighters and challenging them against good competition.

Estrella/Ring TV Live are good platforms for your prospects. Not to mention you guys have HBO backing you guys.

However you need to repair the relationship with Showtime to keep expanding the exposure of your prospects and main event talent. Not sure if solely having HBO to put your elite talent is good enough.

Maybe see if you can do some matches on TruTV with Top Rank like you did when Antonio Orozco fought Emmanuel Taylor.

Yeah, stay busy as in a bunch of prospects going against a bunch of hapless, hopeless setups, including each other's leftovers! No thanks. That BULLSHT got old long ago.

Golden Boy almost died this year. They had 3 relevant fighters going into the last quarter of 2015. Matthysse, Lemieux, and Canelo. Matthysse was stopped by Postol. Lemieux was stopped by Golovkin. But Canelo was able to save them from total collapse by taking Cotto's lineal strap and registering 900K PPV buys. Then Luis Ortiz stepped up as their #2 fighter with his impressive KO of Bryant Jennings.

Let's see what they do in 2016. If they sacrifice Canelo to Golovkin, I don't see much of a future for that company because I don't see Ortiz getting a fight with either Fury or Wilder any time soon.

They might have gotten your message Mr. Richardt

This past weekend Slava vs Gonzalez, and their first main event in next year's LA Fight Club Julian Ramirez vs Abraham Lopez both undefeated prospects.

Did any GBP champion fight a TR champion in 2015? Oscar went out of his way to make up with Arum, but I don't recall seeing any big fights yet. I know Bradley side-stepped Sadam Ali to fight Rios, and then Vargas declined to fight Ali too. I think Oscar needs to drop his lawsuit vs. Haymon ASAP!
