Comments Thread For: Luis Ortiz Ready To Conquer The Heavyweight Division

By Jake Donovan - The fight with Bryant Jennings was never going to happen if random drug testing wasn’t available. Luis Ortiz understood this going in, also well aware that - given his failed drug test just one year ago - just about any other notable heavyweight will now demand the same pre-fight terms.

Those looking for that little bit of leverage prior to agreeing to face the unbeaten southpaw from Miami by way of Cuba might be in for a disappointment - Ortiz is fine with random drug testing, in fact ready to embrace it for all fights moving forward.

Though it's early to say, I think he'll give any current HW hell. I might even favor him over anyone else. Again, still early to say but his fight IQ and range of skill tops any current HW.

Its gonna be hard for them to find more credible opponents for Ortiz. We need more brave fighters like Jennings who are ready to take risks in boxing. But Ortiz has a good promotion behind himself i hope they can get something done.

          Complete Package

Luis Ortiz looks to be the complete package as a heavyweight. Which is scary for a heavyweight. I'm not sure he will be able to ever fight Wilder due to lawsuit going on between Oscar and Al. But hopefully one day this gets resolved.

I think his best bet and Golden Boy's is for him to probably go to Europe and knock off the top heavyweights. I'm not sure any of those guys would want to come to the states and fight here.

So it will be interesting to see who and where he fights next. All I know is he made a huge statement Saturday and put the entire division on notice.

I'm really hard pressed to think of any other contender that has been in as hard as Jennings 4 fights in a row - the man doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Szpilza, Perez, Wlad and Ortiz - 4 very tough fights. Shame on you Wilder the paper tiger.

As far as I'm aware we don't know how good of a chin he has.

Also, he has all that mobility but he is still under conditioned. He doesn't need to become muscle bound and look like Joshua but I'm sure if he could just knock another 2-4% off of his body fat percentage then his mobility might improve slightly but his stamina would improve a lot. (The same could be said for Fury too).

takam and the WBA regular should be his targets for 2016. let's be honest, wilder and fury aren't going near him right now

That would be a great schedule for Tyson Fury after he gets his return with Wlad done!

Jennings has balls of steel. I hope he'll be back and in more big fights.
