Daniel Jacobs hints at the GGG fight happening in 2016

We disagree. What if Jacobs only wants $3 mil? Jacobs has every right to ask for whatever he wants. It's not as impossible as you are trying to make it.

GGG would have to "sell" the fight and take less-same as Floyd, Manny and other big names-since he needs a quality opponent to sell a PPV.

The issue- which You just will not admit- is GGG isn't a proven seller right now so he will have to pay quality opponents more than those who can sell a fight on their own.

You act as if every other fighter needs GGG so he can lowball them and its good. Sorry but it doesn't work like that.

Same reason Tim got $6 mil from TR for the 1st Manny fight when he never made anything like that-Manny needed a quality opponent so he had to take a little less.

I don't disagree that GGG will have to take a paycut, probably something similar to what he did with Lemieux, but to think that Danny can command 3 million for this fight is just crazy talk. Basicly no one in boxing is pulling down that kind of loot unless your Fury, Wladimir, Bradley, Pacquio, Mayweather, Canelo or Cotto. Hell if Danny wants to hold this position of strength you seem to think he has, he can take 25% in a purse bid split. He certainly won't get anywhere near 3 million if that happens.

What your advocating is'nt GGG taking a paycut, but him taking short money, which is absurd. GGG has shown the willingness to work things out money wise with Lemieux, is the guy with two straps, is the guy that sells out wherever he fights. Yet somehow you guys still somehow make **** out to be GGG's fault that he won't be able to meet Jacobs 3-5 million dollar demand, because the God damn fight is'nt worth 6-10 million, and that would be just paying the fighters. Others looking to get paid as well. You really think this fight generates 10-15 million in revenue? And that would probably be to break even. Hell the fight would probably have to do 15-20 million for all parties to get paid the way they want, and that is straight up fantasy land.

Jacobs has the right to ask for what he wants, just like Barrera who has been getting hated on today. Just like anyone else.

In reality though, if he wants £3-5m, the fight won't get made. That's silly talk.

The Big biased dummy clamoring Jacobs who gets 20% of the viewers on cable should get more money than GGG who is about to face Canelo next year.

Jacobs is basically a noname with a belt when you look at the media and fan support.

Golovkin averages 1.3 million on cable TV.

Nobody cares about Jacobs.

Just because Haymon overpays his fighters with laundering money and has an investment group as a coverup doesnt mean these purses are anywhere close to realistic.

If that guy thinks he is worth 5 million he needs a reality check.

GGG will fight Jacobs NEXT if Jacobs grows some balls.

No, I'm not suggesting he take short money here. I am simply evaluating the situation-GGG can't sell a PPV without a big name, which raises the value of the opponent (as I pointed out in other examples in earlier posts in this thread).

I agree that the fight may not generate that level of revenue. Then what does that mean for GGG? Essentially, he has backed himself into a corner. He can either fight bums (who get incredibly low paydays) on HBO or he must take "short money" or a paycut to get on PPV since he can't generate more.

SO if this fight is off the table then its Tuaraeno Johnson or another 12-1 underdog who will take $100k so GGG can make $3mil.

We can agree to disagree. Haymon isn't IMO distorting the payscale because a Payscale isn't established until a fight is negotiated. Location, when a fight is signed and other factors affect the "value" of a fight.

Jacobs understands he has more value so he is asking for a bigger piece of the total pie. Sergio and fighters in the past may not have been as informed and settled for an amount lower than they could've negotiated.

you are trying to equate 2 VERY different scenarios. An isolated low ball purse has no overall effect on the market, but a HIGHER one does.

Bradley is meaningless, its comparing apples to oranges. Another poster already pointed out that the money Manny generates, made that money Bradley got a possibility. That possibility does'nt exist here.

As for what it means for GGG. He probably kills Johnson in Feb/Mar and then it is another waiting game until May, sadly. I still don't see how you make this about GGG backing himself into a corner, when Saunders, Quillen and Jacobs have all priced themselves out and Canelo is playing kick the can down the road. Like GGG has some mystical control over those guys demands.
