Jim Lampley for theatrics and emotion

Al Bernstein for boxing knowledge and tactical analysis

I like both but il stick with Al Bernstein

Well I used to like Jim more when he was actually a blow by blow anouncer and not what he is now, an unprofessional prick who can't stop being extremely biased while criticizing fighters he doesn't like and praising fighters he likes, Al Bernstein is a bit duller but he always keeps it very professional and that's why I voted for him

Btw I just made this thread after seeing a video of Al owning Jim during the Mayweather/Pac telecast post fight. Al was saying Thurman would be a good fight for Floyd and Jim butted in with some witty comment about "Showtime promoting Showtime" and Al said, nah more like a boxing fan supporting a good fighter or something like that.

TBH i starting to really hate HBO's whole commentary not just Lamply. Walters vs Sosa was perfect example. Complete biased commentary to Walters but when Sosa was getting his shots in or doing his work Lamply just started talking about Football and go off topic. I had Sosa winning 3 or 4 rounds but HBO just sometimes drifts off into lala land.

Sometimes Lampley just refuses to call anything the "non house" fighter is landing.

I used to like jim lampley but every since he got in bed with freddie roach and is now kinda related to him he has gone extreme bias for freddie or anyone freddie trains.

Both are good. Lampley has been very good down the years, but probably isn't as good as he once was though. Bernstein is very knowledgeable and is always fair IMO.

I like Al, but every now and again Lamply gets it right, like when his commentary predicted Marquez setting PAC up, right before it happened.

Shattering the lucky punch theory PAC fans tried to cling to, as Manny clung to life after being KTFO!!!

                  His head nearly came off.

But he got a bit too emotional post PAC getting smashed by Marquez, as he described how under appreciate Marquez is by the cruel reality of boxing.

Loved it when Lampley got soft when Douglas shattered HBO Tyson! Or when Floyd beat Castillo. Guys like Lampley don't really care about boxing, they rely on consulting with a side former or current fighter to fill the role during commentary. HBO Commentary was like the 3 stooges, whether it was Lampley, Merchant, or Steward, then the new generation trying to improve commentary empirically with Lewis, Jones Jr., Tarver, etc... Kellerman, still has a lot to learn - partial dude. You can tell when HBO execs pounded Kellerman...changed his character when they reanalyzed Pac vs Floyd and when off the scripted reasoning regarding the Athletic Commission.
