Eddie Hearn talks Eubank Jr. Blames Eubank Sr. for their split

The part where he talks about Eubank starts at 26:00. But it's a really good interview so I'd suggest watching the whole thing

Eubank Jr. had a 3 fight deal with Matchroom/Sky Sports. He had an out in his contract that if Matchroom lost a purse bid he could fight for whoever won the purse bid.

The day before the purse bid Eubank Sr told Hearn that they wanted to fight for the British title. Eubank Sr told Eddie Hearn he wanted the fight to be PPV. Hearn disagreed. Hennessy won the purse bid. But Hearn says Eubank Jr. contractual purse is more than he'd get paid fighting Blackwell

Hearn wanted Eubank Jr to skip the Blackwell fight and stay with Sky. He'd built him up and in his words 'took him from getting booed in a shopping center in front of a couple hundred people to being cheered in front of 17,000 at the O2 arena.'

Eubank Sr tried to negotiate his own deal with Sky. Sky told him they work exclusively with Hearn so he'd have to contact Hearn for any deal. That's when Eubank Sr sent out that tweet saying they are no longer with Matchroom/Sky. Eddie found out they'd terminated the contract when Eubank Sr. sent out that tweet.

Hearn Sr was pissed. Sky was pissed. But Hearn said he's still willing to work with Eubank Jr. But it won't be for only one fight. He's got to be in it for the long haul. He talks about how he built other fighters such as Froch into PPV stars and he was building Jr into that type of fighter. Now that they've left Sky Sports those same opportunities aren't available.

I find it extremely hard to trust anything the Hearns say.

Only thing on Eddie's mind is how to fool fans into buying his next PPV.

I dont believe this phucker, Eubank sr has seen it all. He would not want his son exploited and i agree with whatever direction he and his son takes 100%.

**** Hearn. Eubank Sr knows what he's doing. Eubank Jr will be a superstar in the UK with or without Hearn, easily. He already is a star

True that Hearn isn't trustworthy but nothing he's saying sounds outlandish or even makes Eubank look bad. A bit disloyal perhaps but that's boxing for you. They had an out in their contract, the chance came up and they decided to exercise it in the hopes of negotiating a better deal. Of course Hearn could be leaving details out, but the ones he's given don't make me think any less of the Eubanks.

Maybe Eubank is looking at Hennessey's smaller stable and thinking "I could get better money and exposure being chief support to a year of Tyson Fury PPVs than on a stacked Hearn card" and he's probably right.

Be interesting to see if Eubank still gets his mandatory shot at Jacobs. Possible it was done as part of a deal/favour between the WBA and Hearn and now gets quietly forgotten.

I can't say I'm usually a fan of favoring a promoter over a fighter, but this seems like it could be one of those situations where I might be. As sketchy & tricky as one can expect a promoter to be at times I don't think Hearn could ever be the #1 assclown in any room he shared with Chris Eubank Sr.

I'd love to hear more about this situation from the Eubank's side doe.

He's a promoter, nothing else need be said... can't be trusted. He practically says it himself - he'd do anything for his business... sell his soul even... if it meant success for him and his fighters. Gotta say though, he does talk a good game... you start listening to him, he draws you in and you start to believe his spiel... and then you remember some of the stunts he's tried to pull

They don't call him 'Fast Car Eddie' for nothing

I don't give a flying toss if he is telling the truth or not, I don't even need to hear from Eubank side... I side with the boxer 100%, he has his dad there with him, he has been exploited and he knows from experience what he wants and not want for his son, same way Barry Mcguigan (Another former fighter) left hearns with Carl frampton... They are not doing too badly now or are they? At the end of the day it's the fighters career that matters not the promoter who has a thousand of boxers to pick from.
