Terrific fight. I can't remember the last heavyweight fight I saw with consistently good infighting. I was impressed with both fighters and think both are factors moving forward at heavyweight.

Obviously I'm more impressed with Ortiz. Good counterpunching, good footwork, obviously some great power, and he was good both chasing and making Jennings chase. Stopping Jennings is a serious statement.

yup fools where saying a year and a half ago that golden boy would crumble without that rat Schaefer. LMAO. Not only did golden boy win promoter of the year after he got shoved out the door they are likely going to win promoter of the year again for 2015. Golden Boys roster looks damn good heading into 2016 with big wins by canelo, king king, and lion heart busted up Gonzalez tonight too. Jojo Diaz likely wins prospect of the year. Then you add Linares, Sadam Ali, Orozco and Francisco Vargas. And Matthysee, Herrera and Lemiuex are both one win away from another big fight. Golden Boy proving again that they know how to build fighters.

You couldn't have said it any better.....Golden Boy constantly put on great fight cards against top competition this entire year.....challenged there top fighters throughout the year....while some of the wins didn't go there way (Lucas and Lemiuex) others did (Canelo, Vargas, and Ortiz) and they should be commended more for doing this, not being ridiculed by fans.....

Ortiz most scary quality besides the obvious ones, and that he did what he did coughing his life away it's how fking calm he was in there he had a sense of inevitability in there that I thought was going to cost him the fight when he let Jennings recover, but King Kong showed me wrong he took em uppercuts and did not give 2 ****s.

Poor Jennings he took the L like a real man hopefully he didn't catch the damn flu besides getting knocked out that would suck.

Amazing. Ortiz coughed all through the post-fight interview. That calmness was impressive. Luis didn't let it bother him that Jennings kept hanging around. Some other big punchers might've become discouraged. I was also impressed by Ortiz's stamina and movement. That's a big boy, and he moved and looked pretty fresh in round seven, even after doing his best Ali impersonation for a bit. And that leads me to the other observation. Luis looked pretty damn good dancing around like that and flicking off shots. He's versatile and coordinated. Dangerous man indeed.

The writer of the article says it was poor judging? I had it 4-2 ortiz going into the 7th... Jennings out worked him in the 2nd & 4th. I had many questions about Ortiz. He had never fought anyone other then a washed up Monte Barrett. He showed his power & skill in this fight. He turned up clean & got the job done in style. Great uppercuts! Ortiz doesn't need Browne or Chagaev but I have a feeling he will need to beat the winner if he wants a REAL title shot. This regular & interim belts are garbage but they could be the only way he gets his real chance at a title. I can't see Fury/klitschko winner, wilder or glazkov/martin giving him a voluntary defence unless Martin wins & Golden Boy throws Martin to the wolves in a fight with Ortiz. I will give Ortiz his due. He answered some questions i had. Guys won't be lining up to fight him...

Yeah Jennings is no bum, he just wasn't quite able to come thru with the perfect gameplan. Jackson can get him smoothed out though. Just no heavy hitters for a while til the two gel.

Now what for Ortiz? Charles Martin? Povetkin? Pulev? Actually, it would be a massive test for both, but Ortiz/Joshua to me would be the ultimate.



Wilder/Jennings would actually be a good fight IMO. Anything beats the 2 previous from the ducker. I'd give Jennings a solid chance too.

I agree about Jennings. I thought his game plan was solid, but the size discrepancy was simply too great considering Ortiz's skills. If Jennings wants to make it far he's going to have to learn to guard his chin, because he's a small guy trying to be great against a group of giants. As far as Wilder-Jennings, I think Wilder would kill him. For a guy with his speed, he gets tagged far too easily, and he's not big enough to take sustained punishment from a guy like Wilder.

Ortiz just beat a top 10 heavyweight, but it's still not enough to get him a title shot just like that. That said, he needs to get another top 10 win quickly, because time is against him at 36 years of age.
