If he wants to keep going, defeat was probably the best that could happen to him -- he wasn't going to beat Joe Louis' record anyway.

Reclaiming the HW Crown would only enhance his legacy, and cement his ATG status.

      All hail, King Vladimir!

Nah. His only real goal [pre-fury] was to fight Wilder to finally get his WBC belt and unify them all. Since Fury already lost the IBF belt, even if Wlad wins the rematch, he wont have the time or energy to chase IBF down AND try to make a fight with Wilder.

In short, I think no matter if he wins or loses against Fury, he's retiring afterwards. It's just the story that will change.

Exactly, only way to beat Louis record is to do what Joe did and have a bum of the month fight. Wilder is well on his way with that plan. Hopefully the lose by Wlad shifts him into another gear.

He hasn't slown down that drastically, but he's obviously not the fighter he was.

                The dude is 40, FFS.

I take nothing away from Fury, he fought a perfect fight.

But I really think Wlad will KO him in the rematch if he really is an ATG I think he is.

Wlad looked like he did turn into Toney overnight. I know he can be boring but he's never had issues throwing his shots like that before. Wlad is done.
