In my case it's not hatred. I was left to believe that ggg was going to be a special fighter. With his team bragging that they would fight anyone from 154-168, I thought we were ready to see another Leonard/DeLahoya. A special fighter actually ready to fight quality fighters not just pick through the easy fights. When it was gggs turn to prove his meddle (Ward), his team threw up road blocks and killed the fight. When Leonard had a similar situation he whipped Kalule and dropped back down and kicked Hearns ass. Oscar never backed away from a legitimate opponent in his career. I just thought with what I saw in the ring and with the bragging his team did, ggg was cut from the same cloth. Guess not.

its all just a matter of perspective. 2 people can see a particular scenario and each has a different opinion about what they saw. I would tend to agree with you, if in fact the Ward fight was actually a viable fight. Problem is, it wasnt. When GGG was actively looking at a few 168 guys because he couldnt get any 160 unifications, Ward was not available. Shoulder injury, Goosen lawsuit, whatever. Then Ward ultimately signs with Roc and Iskowitz says he will need several tuneups. GGG then goes about his business and ultimately gets the Lemieux unification signed, and is mando to the cotto-canelo winner. A great position to be in. And now here comes Ward saying "lets fight sometime next year". Huh? Look, if GGG had no unifications pending or anything, then sure, go do the Ward fight. But to expect him to abandon his unification path, which is finally in reach just for a Ward fight, well #1 it makes no sense, and #2 it holds him to an impossible standard.

No argument there. Hopkins most certainly spent many years as the true #1 160lb'er in the world - while the lineal title was vacant - and that in itself is an accomplishment. Hopkins' resume @ 160 is quite impressive and Bumlovkin will never come close to matching it, IMO...

Man it's all bull**** and Hopkins run was no better. Politics have ****ed up boxing royally. Even Hopkins was fvcjed over by politics. The sport ****in sucks and there are only like 2-3 real champions with the others not giving a ****.

I follow it because I enjoy combat and the skills on display but as far as being a real sport with a real champion and contender elimination system? The **** is a joke. It's not about being the best.

It's about building your brand and hoping for your 1 big opportunity to fight a guy with a fanbase since there aren't many fans left to support your average everyday fighter.

This is a sorry excuse parroted by the Bumlovkinites. If there is no public demand for the champion to fight Bumlovkin then the champion has no obligation to fight Bumlovkin. The champion has an obligation to fight the fights which the public demand. IOW, the fights which make the most money. If Bumlovkin were a bigger draw [ie the object of the public's demand] then he would have already gotten his 160lb lineal championship fight. 97k PPVs buys says that the public doesn't give a **** about the Triple Duck...

You can't blame Golovkin for Sturm ducking him for years. Sure, he didn't win it in the ring. That's been true for a LOT of people. People move up to divisions, people retire. Lineage gets broken all the time.
Fact is NONE of the current lineal champs are truly lineal. Every single lineage has been broken at least once, usually 10+ times.

You need to get your facts straight - look up rankings of his opponents before the fights. The vast majority of them were ranked in top10 by the ring magazine. That's a FACT.
It doesn't matter that YOU think they're 'bums'. Fact is they were highly ranked.

I know you're trying to say lineage is only thing is matters, but it's just not true. Neither does WBA belt, or WBC belt or IBF belt. "Use your brain" is the only way to tell who's the true champ right now.
