Comments Thread For: Froch: Bute Exposed DeGale's Lack of Punching Power

On November 28th in Canada, IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale retained his title, via twelve round decision, in a tough fight with former beltholder Lucian Bute.

Bute put in his best performance since getting knocked out in five rounds by Carl Froch in May of 2012.

Froch was ordered to defend the IBF title against DeGale earlier this year. He vacated the title and later retired from the sport. DeGale would go on to decision Andre Dirrell to capture the vacant IBF belt.

Don't think anyone was under the impression that DeGale was a monstrous puncher.

His power is underrated if anything.

Bute came in great shape and was confident in front of his home crowd. DeGale did a very professional job on him.

DeGale isn't the biggest puncher, but he's p4p one of the most skilled boxers in the game, and can do things in the ring that others can only dream about. He still hits hard enough to keep his opponent honest, and when you combine that with James's elite skillset, it's all he needs.

Nobody at 168 beats him. DeGale-Golovkin would be interesting, i think James could outbox him.

I agree with Froch, SMW is verry weak at the moment, no need for GGG to move there just for one interesting fight against Degale.

DeGale was clean, he wasn't on those PEDs Froch was on when he fought Bute in Nottingham.

Froch looked like a completely different boxer against Bute than against previous opponents - suddenly he became a relentless, tireless puncher.

Posting false information is a bannable offence

Why would Froch be tired after 5 rounds? That's all it took to **** another of your weakling heroes!

You really had your little hopes up for Bute too.

He threw nearly a 1000 punches in the first Kessler fight. Fuck sake, if you're going to downplay something at least pick something other than his fuckin' greatest asset.
