Wladimir, yes, he just went all jab and straights in most of his latest fights but Vitali? Sounds like you've never seen him.

You're clearly a casual. Vitali fought nothing like his brother. Try actually watching some fights instead of dismissing fighters out of hand.

I'm hoping Povetkin or Ortiz end up on top. Wilder's days are numbered and I just can't see Fury setting the world on fire. Not so sure about Joshua either.
Ortiz & Povetkin are old men bro.

2fast is the future of HW boxing. 27 and only getting better.

Patience boxingfan. Actually one of the biggest problems is the fear of losing. But, guys like chisora, whyte and Fury have actually been trying to improve and are getting better. They are still young as well.

Regarding Fury, his footwork and instincts are very good. He did not have the coinfidance to go after Vlad that fight, but probably will next round.

The current crop is improving, they are young but getting better, i a few years we should have some good fighters in the heavyweight division.

What you may be resoponding to is the very straight up orthodox way a lot of guys fight now. There is a lack of mobility, rigidity and a chin up kind of approach. This presently comes from the olympic way of fighting where guys are taught to amass as much punches as they can, and...it perverts the pro level with punch stat type stats which are ridiculous.

This approach will change as guys like Whyte, Fury and even one punch Wilder, learn to move in the ring with more circular, angular movements and with punches thrown at every angle. Vitalie and his brother throw punches out of the orthodox position for sure... But survival of the best dictates that more guys will learn how to move when they see how it benefits them in the ring.

I don't like to disparage Vlad Klitsko but frankly he made his bones hitting guys who are stationary targets. Fury was not a stationary target, he came from a family which trains properly and he was taught not to stand still and set. Also, if you look at the fury fight with Vlad carefully you will see that Fury has a gorgeous hook that he throws over a jab that is straight as an arrow. What people find unappealing about Fury is that when he is exchanging, his punches are sloppy...well, people focus on that range of punching too much now a days, prolly because guys square up so much.

I've actually been down on HW boxing for a long ass time. Since Lennox I guess. The Klitschko era has thoroughly bored me. But as the Fury vs Klitschko fight got closer, & I've been thinking that Fury's reign was closer to being realized, I've been getting more excited about the division & paying closer attention & researching guys on the way up. I think we are in for some fun times over the next couple years & maybe this whole next era with HW's for a change of pace.

We got 4 very interesting undefeated younger guys (30yrs or under) that are at or near the top (Fury, Wilder, Joshua & Parker) among a few maybe, maybe not interesting guys around the top 20 or so that we will be finding out more about in the next 6-18 months probably & there are quite a few compelling prospects on the way up that will be making their impact over the next 2-3yrs. I doubt we are in for a Ali/Frazier/Foreman resurgence, but it certainly won't be a do over of the Klitschko era I feel confident in saying.

So someone who can't even tell the difference between Wlad and Vitali (because he's never seen Vitali fight) thinks the division isn't all that. Why is that thread worthy?
