Winky was a cherry pick IMO. So was Pavlik as neither belonged at LHW. Possibly Pascal at that time too. And guys like Cloud, Murat, Shumenov just aren't very good.

Hopkins was an underdog.
'Only argument is Vegas odds?'
Well, why don't you go on to Vegas and become a millionaire?
If you have such foresight.
It was a good fight, and Hopkins was the underdog; and absolutely dominated.
Hopkins was fighting at light heavyweight, so the catchweight wasn't really that unreasonable.Comment

I get what you're saying but as it stands in 2016, nothing suggests Pavlik above 160 should be considered a good win. He lost both times he moved up, was slower, lost power and on and on.Hopkins was an underdog.

The Wright and Pavlik fights were at super middleweight, and Pascal and Cloud were both titlists, who had their titles lifted by Hopkins.
The hate is unbelievable.
Hopkins is one of the greatest fighters of all time.
I repeat, he is above Floyd, on my list, if I was to make one.Comment

No, they were above super middle. I mean seriously...Winky Wright at 170lbs? Terrible. The Wright and Pavlik fights were at super middleweight, and Pascal and Cloud were both titleliits, who had their titles lifted by Hopkins.

The points are only ridiculous because you view Hopkins through eyes of admiration. Just like most of the points you made about Floyd seem ridiculous to me because we view Floyd in a different light. That's the problem when you go nitpicking fighters resumes. Any semi-knowledgeable fight fan can shred 99% of all fighters resumes in one way or another. And more times than not its based on you you feel personally about a fighter. You make some fair points. But you seem to have undue scorn for Hopkins.
He is a great fighter.
I accept your points.
Saying that the Kovalev fight was something untoward seems very ridiculous.
Surely he took the fight because he thought he could win.
Kovalev is considered the best fighter in the world at his weight.
That is, frankly, a bit ridiculous of a comment which you made.
Much of what you said is quite ridiculous, in my opinion. But you also made some fair points.
I don't wanna come off as tring to **** on Hopkins. I'm a fan of his, probably moreso than Floyd. He's a felon that's pulled himself up, stayed outta trouble, and made something of his life. I can relate. He had a much rougher upbringing than me, and made it out. I think Floyd tends to exaggerate some of hus heartships growing up. As a man, I respect Hopkins a helluvs lot more than I respect Floyd. That said, I think Floyd was a better fighter. And my post was mostly to give you a visual as to how Hopkins career was just ad carefully constructed as Floyd's. Probably more carefully constructed. Because Floyd chased big fights. Where Hopkins let the fights come to him.Comment
