Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter Reacts To Resolution on Canelo

The WBC announced on Monday it's resolution in regards to their middleweight belt-holder Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and their interim titlist Gennady Golovkin. The hope is that they will eventually meet at some point in the second half of 2016 after taking separate bouts to begin the year.

When asked if he was pleased with the terms laid out, Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions told BoxingScene.com:

GGG vs Canelo in Sept would be huge. I'm OK with a one fight agreement since we all knew going in Canelo wasn't going to fight him next anyways. One fight, gives him time to "grow" or whatever while hyping/building the fight. That's better than nothing for K2.

had canelo been born a regular mexican shade and not his ginger shade,

GGG vs Canelo would for sure take place with no catchweight.

how the hell are you gonna ask for a catchweight from a fellow division titlist?

who does canelo think he is? floyd?

There is no certainty whatsoever. There is a very good chance Alvarez tells them to **** off and drops the belt at the end of this. Golovkin better hope Lee beats Saunders and wants to fight him.

lol, so basically Team Canelo got their way. IMO, Canelo should fight twice before GGG, a 10rd non title fight around 157-158lbs in Mexico, than 1 in May at a full 160lbs. Both guys he fights should have a similar style to GGG just less risky. Canelo needs to keep his timing & reflexes on par for GGG so activity and weight acclamation is a must.

Golovkin better not just have one fight between October 2015 and September 2016, especially if it's Tureano Johnson - **** THAT ****!

So each fighter makes a defense before fighting each other. Yeah, I didn't see anything to decipher from the first announcement. It was pretty clear that's what was said. There were some posters that were confused and said nothing has changed. Now that Loeffler just repeated that in layman terms I think now people will understand that the fighters will make a defense prior to fighting each other.
