There's nothing lean about his body though, so we can't really say lean"er". More like less overweight than he was. And Arreola was at one point an in shape, strong looking guy.

Guys that look like Arreola, Stiverne, Kaufman, none of these guys are in here to be real champions. They'll always lose to the guys who work harder than them. Unless they get lucky and fight a real chinny guy like Seth Mitchell or something like that. But what their shape tells me is that they're not 100% serious about boxing and to them junk food is as important to them and their tradition as boxing is, which is terrible. You can't look at Arreola and tell me that the guy really gives it his all, all year round staying in shape like Mayweather, Froch, the Klitshcko's, Marquez, Pacquiao. You think these guys have a pit stop in the year eating burritos and tacos and come back to camp, training to lose weight? That's not healthy and that's not what the 100% serious boxers do. They know that boxing is their life and boxing is a 24/7 365 job. Arreola doesn't. And you are a trainer, I know you are not a nutrionist but you should know and admit that Arreola doesn't give it his all. He could definitly without a doubt look more toned and less flabby than he does.

Now When Arreola struggles big time against guys like Kauffman and Fred Kassi he really needs to think about retire from the game. All the punishment he takes in every fight, his team and family should be concerned about his health. I think he'll continue to fight though. Arreola is just too tough for his own good.

You are conflating two issues. Is Arreola a guy who has added to his weight because of his eating and lack of training, yes 100%.

What I'm saying is that Arreola, like many other fighters, will never look ripped and chiseled because it's not in his genes. I always use this one guy as an example, Juan Diaz.

Juans Diaz was an unbelievably dedicated champion. He fought in a style that was the toughest cardio wise. He ran, ate well, did everything a pro boxing champ needed to do and yet, he wasn't chiseled. GENETICS my friend, GENETICS.

Arreola came in the lowest weight of his fighting career. EVER, and yet still looked like **** because he isn't that good. That was my point, he can lose the weight, he can eat rice cakes and panda farts for 8 weeks, it won't help him.

Yes genes play a big, importnt part in your physique, like I try to tell people Anthony Joshua is like that because of his genes and had work.

But bringing in genes for Arreola' shape is a bad excuse. Arreola's shape happened because of Arreola. Have you seen how he looked in the amateurs? He let HIMSELF go. Genes go out the window in his case. Dude let his own damn self go.

You can't look at this video of him at 178lbs and tell me that the way he looks now is because of genes. Look how lean he looks, he could have taken another route to build weigh, like for example, build muslce weight instead of fat.

Look how skinny he is, if you look like that at any point of your life, you can not tell me that he had no potential of becoming ripped. You are saying he can never become ripped but his body type in this video when he was younger in the 2000s indicate that he definitely could have looked in better shape had he taken his career and diet more serious.

A lot also has to do with the way he loses weight. Arreolas lucky hes a HW unlike other boxers with terrible eating/drinking habits that have to make a certain weight but what I noticed is Arreola did the same thing those same fighters trying to make weight do in their camps and thats go to training camp to lose weight. When you lose a lot of weight at once, you also lose punch resistance which is obvious in Arreolas case. If Arreola were serious about losing weight, hed get a proper dietitian to lose weight at a normal rate, also focus on building lean muscle with heavy weight lifting. Its true genetics play a factor on muscle definition but I dont think Arreola has ever attempted to lean up the right way, its all been half ass.

Kauffman admitted to taking off rounds 10 & 11, as he thought he had a comfortable lead. So according to him, he wasn't tired, he was just cruising. If you're trying to win a fight to open doors to bigger things, why would you do that?

You hit it right on the head. Arreola is a fat, lazy, under-dedicated fighter. I've seen plenty of people who don't have the genetics to be ripped & can't get that way without much extra effort. They still have visible muscle, but it's smooth rather than ripped. This is not the case with Chris. He looks like he ****s around the entire time between fights, then busts his ass (sometimes) to lose weight during training camp. This not only leaves him drained, but also takes away from time he could actually be polishing his game. He talks like his style is fine & his biggest problem is losing weight. The truth is, his style is under-developed & he's weak from trying to lose weight in too short a period of time. Effective physical fitness is a way of life, not an occasional foray. As an athlete, how can he not know this?

Arreola just doesnt have the discipline and its clear his training camp is more about losing weight than honing skills plus his punch resistance suffers from rapid weight loss.

Chris was out hustled early and often and lost the bout.
It made it look closer because Kaufman gassed at the end but he still won.
Its not that big of a deal neither fighters skill propels them into a title challenger. Their both C+ B- talents and a rematch could be entertaining, both tried hard but both carry extra weight that limits their stamina. They both feel they need to be 230 to fight the bigger guys but the reality is if they were both 212-16 they'd have better conditioning and could perform at a higher level.

Hey it beat the hell out of watching Fury & Wlad throw less then 100 punches each in 12 rounds!
