  • Comments Thread For: J. Mayweather Feels Floyd is Not Coming Back in 2016

Trainer Jeff Mayweather, the uncle of retired pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs), does not expect his nephew to return in 2016.

Floyd retired in September after winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather has retired at least twice in the past and came back to the sport. Many insiders believe he will return once again next year to break Rocky Marciano's record of 50-0.

I agree with Jeff, I don't think he's ever coming back as a professional. He's probably finally reading all of his press and getting a real kick out of all this. When it's over, it's over....

Thank god. Stay retired. His boring decisions are just bad for the sport. Just bad.

I dont know why but i really don't believe he would come back too. He had a great career and beat everyone worth beating in around his weight, he made a lot of money in the process too.

Hopefully he's not coming back, that would be the anti-climax of 2016.

The difference is, Bernard's last fight was not a pre-planned farewell fight, it is only his last fight because he lost and hasn't got back in the ring again since.
You can praise Bernard for taking such dangerous fights at his age, it is an unrivaled achievement.
But don't then go and criticize a man who also far outlived 99% of yours, mine and everyone else's boxing heroes, because quite frankly, all you are doing is insulting other boxing greats.
Floyd fought well into his late 30's against top opposition. Yes Berto was not included in that, but up until then, he had an amazing run given his age. So don't knock it, because at his age, half your boxing heroes were long retired or getting knocked out by bum after bum.

I wonder if he's going to fight 41 more times to challenge Julio Cesar Chavez's record.

Yup he knows if his nephew stays for another fight. His nephew will get caught this time around. No ivs = exposed fraud

The Mayweathers wont risk it. They just got away with the biggest sports heist in history which his nephew literally ran away with 200m. The 2nd time around is were crooks get caught when they get too greedy and want even more. Self control is the name of the game. At this point red flags for iv gate is everywhere. Its just a matter of time, but if he climbs back in now floyd will be in a magnifying glass. He'll get caught even quicker lol

Good point Jeff. Good point hehe

Chavez had a tie and a lost in Mexico that wasn't counted in Mexico but skip over that
