Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: Business Could Overrule Fan Demand

He has a point, but Rod Salka? Don't tell me he made more for that than any body else he could have faced. That wasn't big business. His motivation is slipping from being the best to getting paid well. Be the best and you'll get paid well.

Garcia is not ******, nor his dad. They will know themselves that PBC is not guaranteed to last the length of his career so make hay while the sun shines.
How much is he getting for Guerrero? I bet it is above a million and probably closer to two million. From a business point of view he is ****** to not to take this - he is right.
But this is poor business for PBC too - they need to start getting these contenders facing off soon. Casuals are not ******. If they are tuning in regularly to watch PBC fights then they are becoming less casual by the week and by the month and starting to read up about these fighters - it doesn't take anyone with half a brain to figure out that the PBC doesn't have all the fighters and even the best fighters they have are being held back from each other.

Having said that saying **** like this isn't gonna endure you to the fans either so while we all kinda knew this was Garcia's take (& other cats too, hell probably most cats with a name) he maybe should leave these sorta opinions out of the interviews he does cuz there is gonna be way more negativity over saying things like this than there is gonna be positive **** said over things like this.
Although tbh I question Garcia's & his team's business decisions in that they didn't more aggressively go after a Mayweather fight post-Matthysse when he was on the short list & mighta been at or near the top of it at that point as most were highly impressed with Garcia's best win performance & he was at his highest point in boxing (he's since fallen off fairly nicely).
The trouble is most of these guys act like $5 million is nothing. If you or me or virtually every other NSB poster had $5 million in the bank by the time we are mid thirties then we'd be set up for life. Shit - $500,000 would do it for me. But nooooh - these greedy gits need $25-30 million in the bank.

That's because we have a sport where there isn't enough fan support for the fighters to take certain risks. Take for example Garcia vs Thurman. It's a huge fight for boxing but it will only sell 8,000-10,000 tickets and get average ratings because boxing's fanbase has diminished in the USA.

Carl Froch took great fights almost continuously for 7 or 8 years. He had a long, wonderful career.
Garcia has let himself stall in place since beating Matthysse, and you have to wonder why. He looks like he has regressed completely as a fighter. It's really disappointing.

And you can't just blame Haymon for it. These fighters have the ability to stand up and demand better, but they don't care. There is no other sport like this and it's easy to see why it has dropped off. It's like the Carolina Panthers saying, "We're 13-0, we have nothing left to prove and we're not going to enter the playoffs. We'll just call ourselves champs."Last edited by bojangles1987; 12-14-2015, 08:09 AM.

almost cant blame the fighter for not want to take test when the can make millions fightin almost guaranteed wins
STOP BEING SO CASUAL AS A FAN AND THIS MIGHT STOP..
hell if u have one bad day at work your checks dont change so who are you to judge..
on the ohter hand fighters like thruman porter garcia spence brook khan..they could all fight each other 2 times this year and it wouldnt make boxing more popular...so its a sad time to be in the sport of boxing it seems ..only the hardcore and same casuals would catch it...arent enough of us to make a demand
haymon tried but i dont pbc going far even if they make the best matchups..

Since then he fought Yusaf Mack and Groves. Not exactly big risks.
