I think vs more guys than not it is, but anything is situational. Some guys may deflate in the face of **** talking & some guys may inflate in the face of **** talking. I think its a variable that can play a part, but its probably seldom the deciding factor in a fight if we could measure all the components that led one side to victory over the other.

To write off trash talking completely is naive OF COURSE trash talking can play into the sport, look at garcia vs khan, broner vs paulie etc etc (probably better examples but first that came to my head)

To OP trash talking only plays a role when you can get to your opponents some people it doesn't bother them cause you aint push the right buttons but believe me trash talking can work on anyone as long as you push the right buttons.

So can it win you the fight NO but can it make your oppenent abondoned his game plan and go off pure emotions and open him up for you OF COURSE!

They might or they might not. I think it played a part in Fury vs Klitschko cause Wladimir never come across as a born fighter and he surely has some confidence issues cause of his earlier setbacks.

If you on the other hand fights a guy like Hopkins it will probably be hard to affect him at all with some trash talking. Also you can look at De La Hoya vs Mayorga. Probably Mayorgas taunting of De La Hoya only made De La Hoya more determined to stand his ground early in the fight.

Psychology is a huge part of boxing, of any sport but especially combat sports. If you don't think you can win you probably cant.
