  • Comments Thread For: McGregor aims for record of old motherf***ers May/Pac

UFC superstar Conor McGregor knocked out his long-time rival Jose Aldo in mere 13 seconds to capture the UFC featherweight championship in the main event of the UFC 194 pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Irishman McGregor had said in the build-up to the event that he would embarrass Aldo with a first-round knockout, reports BBC sports.

This guy is going to be Floyd's new out of the ring nemesis. He's entertaining and good for the UFC but his hype will come crumbling down as well. Just wait and see.

You can break all the records you want, but your purse was $500 K for this Aldo fight.

Even the last one in his home country, he got the same amount as Collazo who was brought in to take a spanking from Collazo.

Also boxing is about the fighters, MMA is about the promotional company. Fighters NEED a promoter to provide platform, where as in boxing you are the brand. So, May-Pac was big because of them & not their promoters. Was McGregor big when he was fighting in UK/Ireland shows? Exactly.

He's deluded to think he can do those numbers. MMA just isn't as big or mainstream as boxing is now, maybe in the future it will be.

But 500k purse ? Nah, that's just his minimum guarantee if no ppv's are sold. He'll get a big chunk of the ppv money, multi millions for sure.

LOL these UFC guys just dont have skills. Theres zero excuse for a world class fighter to be KO'd in 13 seconds. I's just not possible but it happens all the time with these posers. This dude is no exception he'll be sucking his own methane in mere seconds one of these Turd fests

This is the same Aldo who was talking about Ronda and how women's MMA wasn't on the same level as men's lol...

Dude got KO'd in 13 seconds lol...

People act like MMA isn't like boxing..same BS..you don't get the fights you want to see: GSP-Diaz when we wanted it happened too late; Cyborg and Ronda: never happened;...

Aldo was fed a bunch of nobodies for years and got KO'd by the first legit puncher... it's the same BS as boxing but UFC used the Pacquiao-May flop as it's excuse to act like it did things differently...

The women's UFC is more exciting than the men's and they have better story lines..that would never happen in boxing..

yeah it's ridiculous. i thought this aldo guy was supposed to be pound-for-pound, even ATG, level but he looked like an amateur. in 13 seconds he made more mistakes than a novice boxer from your local gym would make over 12 rounds

Say this on a UFC site...we all know this here. The fighters on the UFC are basically working at a sweat-shop assembly line in China..

Exactly. He is their organizations champion also, not a WORLD champion as he claims. The whole premise behind a UFC World Championship is bogus. It's a make-world belt.

When McGregor leaves the UFC and takes his starpower on the road as a freelance fighter and once the MMA has actual World Champions, then we can talk. There are no MMA world titles. The WBC/WBO/IBF/WBA are organizations/sanctioning bodies but they have champions all over the globe, signed to all kinds of promoters and if a fighter becomes big enough in the lower divisions, he doesn't even need them anymore (i.e. Floyd).
