My mistake, I assumed anyone of the opinion that Degale or Bute would easily beat Ward would have to be making those bold statements out of nationalistic pride, instead it's just pure ******ityComment

Are you under the impression that DeGale and Bute are the same nationality?

And if they had read some of your threads in the lounge they would've called you bias for Miranda despite being a "euro". Can't win with some ppl.Comment

As much as it pains me to say it, I agree with NE.degale's definitely a live dog. still, you've got to figure that ward's got what it takes to beat degale when he's at his best. if degale's movement is giving ward problems and winning him rounds ward can always go all the way inside and work. he's shown the ability to do it consistently.
i haven't seen the dirrell fight in a while, but i do remember a marked contrast between his gas tank in that fight and the bute fight. he looked very fit against bute, but he always looks fit. more importantly, he's learning how to pace himself in a 12 round boxing match. every time he looekd lik ehe was going to tire he'd come back with a combination and get back on his toes. it was enouhg to win him some rounds agaisnt bute that might have been close otherwise. degale showed me a good deal of improvement and professionalism against bute.
still, there's a huge difference between fighting a timid lucian bute, who has never been the same since froch, and ward. ward's got a reputation as a spoiler, which is something that he does from time to time. he doesn't get the credit deserved for being relentless and physical. he's a rough customer on the inside. he's extremely well balanced in terms of where and at what distance he can be effective. i'd call him the most rounded fighter in boxing if he were aggressive or a big puncher, but he's not. it's a lot of work to fend off a guy who is pressing you to the ropes with his shoulders and using his leg strength, but you don't take a beating or get knocked out the way you would against a bigger puncher.
ward on points. the interesting question is whether or not ward's lost a step because of the layoffs and father time. that's not taking anything away from degale. he just doesn't fight as good at any distance, and isn't a big enough puncher to keep that from mattering.
I see Ward (if it's the same Ward... the one that was like a human mogadon tablet in the Super Six) as being a favourite (favorite, Fat Yanks) with De Gale a "live dog".
I regard De Gale as undefeated, actually, as I scored the Groves fight to him.Comment
