I hate fans and fighters that gloat about numbers.

Why do certain posters want PBC to fail and get happy if they have low numbers?

I want PBC to fail because it puts on crap fights. HBO and Sho are better. Further fragmenting it is so bad for the market. I am glad PBC continues to fail. Strong speculation it will last a couple more years and then everyone goes back to HBO and Sho.

I have several problems with Haymons operation. And the intellectually challenged with try and dumb it down to being about Floyd, or being about race, because thats as far as they are able to take a conversation. But I'll try anyways.....
1. Despite having without question the deepest stable in boxing, Haymon "marinates" at a level Arum could only dream of. So far, I can count 3 TRULY meaningful fights that PBC made on their own, not because of a mandatory or whatever. 1. Mares-Santa Cruz 2. Porter-Broner (even with the catchweight, this was a meaningful fight) and 3. Jacobs-Quillin. Sure, a few mandos turned out great, and a few fights that were thought to be garbage turned out great also, but with as much talent as he has at his fingertips, I've been disappointed with the matchmaking. And I know this is an arguable point. There is no right or wrong, this is just my opinion.
2. Haymon is openly violating the Ali Act. This is not disputable. Whether or not the Justice Dept gives a **** is another matter. But its not even debatable. FACT: The Ali Act prohibits a manager from having a financial interest in the promotion of a fighter. FACT: Haymon is a licensed manager, in multiple states. FACT: He pay promoters a flat fee to coordinate his events, and he controls all revenue streams. FACT: That means he has a financial interest in the promotion of a fighter.
3. A manager has a fiduciary duty to the fighter, so as a manager, it is impossible to fairly represent both sides of a fight. Everything negotiated for fighter A (purse, weight, gloves, venue, etc) comes at the expense of fighter B. Their interests are opposed. You cannot be properly represented by a manager who has the exact same obligations to your opponent. Even people on this forum are pointing out the Porter issue, and how he's 3rd or 4th on Al's list of favorite welterweights. Think about it. In a messy divorce, would you want your wife's lawyer representing you also?
4. Monopolies are never a good thing. If you would not be comfortable with Oscar or Bob "running" boxing, then you cant be comfortable with Al running it either. Do we really want boxing to become a UFC type entity, with Al playing the role of Dana White?
5. His inflated pay scale although GREAT for the fighters in the short term, is not sustainable and affects the marketplace in ways that will prevent certain fights from happening. For example Jacobs just got $1.5 to fight Quilliin, did 8500 tickets even with an all-NY undercard, and 365k peak viewers. What would he expect for a GGG fight, or a Canelo fight? $3 million? $5 million? Its not happening. Thurman has been getting well over a million for the Zavecks and Collazos. Whats the Porter fight going to cost? Or a Khan fight? And believe me I love to see the fighters get every dime they can, but the market at least has to be based somewhat in reality.
6. I wont get in to the anti-trust and Sherman Act stuff, because its "inside baseball" and boring to most people.
There are a few more things, like the dartboard scheduling, and other more minor issues, but this is a good start to the conversation........Last edited by OnePunch; 12-08-2015, 07:58 PM.

HBO and Sho are way better. Always making plans for the top fighters to face each other, like Ward Kov, Stevenson Kov. PBC is just a bunch of garbage. Wasted opportunity.

You should be the last person making this thread. You want to seen as unbiased but we all know you're an ultra bias fanboy.
But I don't think anyone wants to see PBC but in NSB land it's an eye for an eye. When you marvel in another fighters shortcoming (which sometimes aren't even shortcomings) and failures just because you dislike the fighter don't be surprised when they return the favor. And don't go whining about it making petty threads.

It's not really 'free' since you still need some sort of cable package to view most of their shows. Still, with all this 'free' boxing we've had on TV, it think 2015 has been one of the ****tiest years in boxing I can remember.

There's a PBC event on right now, but you don't see any of these PBC fanboys in the thread.
Yet they quick to tell us why we should support it because it's "boxing on free tv" yo!
These dudes still can't admit the truth, they just want us to watch because PBC is run by a black man. But they don't even watch it!
Haha
