PBC failed miserably by not having Jacobs-Quillen on free tv.

We can look back and say it was significant but very few of us were actually looking forward to this one. I think it got whatever rating it did because it had no competition that night.
I hear ya but I mean in the grand scheme of things. It's just weird to show Jacobs-Mora and Quillen against Lee and Zefara and talk about them meeting non stop then ship the fight over to showtime and not NBC.

I'm not sure how many watched, has there been a number released yet?
They promoted the hell out of it though, probably saw more promos for it then any other fight, even more then Mares-LSC.

Im sure if we use the power of hindsight we can say this about many many fights
Don't get your Haymon thong in a bunch dude. If GGG and Lemieux had been showcased on Free tv all year then they took the fight to HBO I'd be wondering why just the same.

i guess I just don't get the whole idea of building brands to casual fans then when they have "big" fights, shipping them off to pay tv.

I don't think PBC presentation is too bad, but I do prefer the Showtime and HBO presentation, and as is I prefer bigger fights on the networks.

I hope it's something that not only PBC, but GBP, TR, RN, and others adopt. Your fighters can have tune ups all they want on free TV, but when it comes to Showtime or HBO only big fights should take up that budget.

Yea, I absolutely agree about the PBC build-up strategy being a mess. They need to think about the storyline factor.

Shameless and Homeland. The boxing is just a bonus

That's my biggest issue with them. I love watching the free fights but they have the wackiest match making.

One fight should lead to another but it seems some guys take one step forward and then 2 back fighting stiffs.

              No rhyme or reason sometimes...

it does seem weird considering the push for both on PBC, but whatevs. I assume there is still some obligation to Showtime to fulfill.

Haymon has consistently had that problem with matchmaking for his fighters. It's something he needs to figure out because you can see how it hurts his fighters. They don't have the constant progression that someone like Crawford has, or Alvarez.

Yea I tend to agree the promotion of fights is a problem. I think this is a legit issue with freelancing promoters. If Haymon is paying x dollars to put on a show, the promoter might just not have the incentive to put anything else into it. Idk how all the balance sheet works with it or whos paying who what to do whatever, but I definitely feel like too many PBC cards are just sorta there with lil fanfare & ultimately thats one of the things that are going making growing PBC take longer than they probably wanna take to grow it.
