I thought Wlad would take advantage of what I perceived as superior foot and hand speed. What I can categorically say is that he is not shot, not at all. I think he just got overrated somewhere along the way, and Fury showed his limitations. You have to give Fury full credit for that, but do I know think Fury is an exceptional heavyweight, no I don't because I always believed Wladimir was flawed in the first place, he just hadn't faced anyone as big and good as Fury yet. I think he is a big, tall guy with very good boxing ability, speed, and good coordination for his size. He will be difficult to beat and he will be around for a long time, he will be in good fights because he is a proper fighting man and a warrior, the Wlad fight was not the best example of what to expect from Fury's career.

I agree that boxing fans are fickle and I warned people that just because Fury got dropped by Cunningham doesn't mean jack when it comes to this fight. Does Fury have an iron jaw? Absolutely not, but that fight was over 2 years ago and people ignored the improvements. It reminded me of when people said that Hatton was going to get flattened by Tszyu because he got dropped by Magee, as I said boxing fans are fickle.

Povetkin was never being built up to be a monster, especially after his close fight with Huck everyone realised that he wasn't likely to challenge Wlad, even though Wlad struggled and used horrible illegal tactics which totally changed the completion of the fight. I think Wilder is cautiously being built up, but even there not overboard, just a select few getting excited, but I think most educated fans can see he has a lack of technique and skill. For me he is a bit of a wild card (no pun intended) in the sense that he has lots of speed, power, and athleticism which makes him dangerous. Joshua is definitely got a lot of hype, maybe too much for what he has proved, I think with him people realise he has speed and power but he looks more polished then Wilder...that is the general perception, whether that perception remains accurate as he goes through he levels, time will tell.
You say Wlad has always had some type of flaw, but a person with some many (as you put it) would not reign at heavyweight for nearly 10+ years. It doesn't happen!!! Fury beat Klitchko in one of the least impressive ways and yet people keep talking skills, I saw some but none to go wild about. Wlad was obviously shot to sh**, Fury has skills but I don't believe he beat a prime/steady version of Klitchko and neither does 90% of boxing fans/writers/historians/enthusiasts.

        this.

fury isn't an awful fighter. he had a great gameplan, and he stuck with it. i actually like his trainer. he gives good, practical advice, and clearly set tyson up with the proper gameplan and got him in shape.

the deciding factor was still wladimir's level of deterioration. i'm not some biased british fanboy who will tell you otherwise. i'm not a wladimir fanboy, either. i really don't have a dog in the fight. objective people, writers and pundits included, are going to recognize that wladimir was done.

the guy is 40 years old and has been in championship fights for well over 10 years. three knockout losses. close to 400 rounds. and a robust soviet amateur career with all of hte hard sparring and training thatr comes with it.

haye few less than fury [although you can make the argument that the offense was more dangerous / meaningful,] so it's not like wladimir had more opportunities to counter haye than he did against fury.

legnth and style were a factor. they're certainly not THE factor, when you consider that the hall of famer iin the fight was 40 and shot.
Yeh he looked better because he was fighting a cruiserweight who shat himself and was content to survive the 12 rounds.

Different ball game when you're fighting someone who can move and is actually bigger than you.

Wladimir actually was able to get his jab working at times against Haye, something that Fury completely nullified. He said himself after the fight, the most basic concept in boxing is that power punches follow the jab and he couldn't get his jab off.

          The robot malfunctioned.

different ballgame when you are 40 years old and cannnot pull the trigger. this is what is most important.

keep doing your thing, man. wladimir was in his prime, and fury would have beaten a 30 year old klitshcko because he's such a great mover and jabber.

The same 90% including you believed Fury was going to get destroyed so yeah we know the story.

You're right though, a person would not reign for nearly 10 years if they didn't have something about them which makes you wonder why no one else could do what Fury did and do it so easily.

I'm sorry but Haye moved a lot damned better than Fury with much better head movement and yet we saw Klitchko throw. Klitchko has never had a very high punch output (atleast in recent years) but against Fury damn near every one saw something was "off" (not "On" for Fury).

And how the hell did Fury dismantle Wlad Jab, when he was not letting it go or anything at that! It was possibly the worst performance of Klitchkos career and that includes his KO loses.

Wladimir always pulls the trigger doe. He is always in there winging power punches. I've never seen Wlad paw at opponents like that and refuse to release the right hand until later in the fight.

Remember his slugfests with Haye, Ibragimov and Chambers? Oh how I long for the days of "Prime Wladimir"

Wladimir, great champion, greatest hw of his generation without doubt, but Fury seems to have the key to him. I'm not sure how he wins to be honest, pressing Fury or sitting off him, obviously he has to throw the right hand but Fury has the mental edge now.

Because the man was shot to sh**... Are you seriously gonna ask that question. Fury beat an old man, who has shown declining but no one knew how much.

I admit I believed Wlad would mope the floor with Fury. I even admit to Furys game plan being the correct one. But to not admit to seeing an obvious decline in Klitchkos game is down right ignorant!
