Comments Thread For: Jacobs: I Don’t Fear Golovkin, I Just Want Fair Money

NEW YORK – Daniel Jacobs is far more likely to face another opponent next, but the WBA middleweight champion contends he isn’t avoiding Gennady Golovkin.

Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) has an exclusive contract with HBO Sports, a network with which Jacobs’ powerful adviser, Al Haymon, doesn’t negotiate deals these days. But if that issue can be resolved and the money’s right, Jacobs says he would challenge Golovkin for middleweight supremacy. [Click Here To Read More]

It only took a few days before he started talking like quillin. Now trying to use money as the excuse for why he will start ducking GGG.

Boxing reporters are the worst.. It's like they have never heard of this thing called a follow-up question.

"Ok, of course you deserve to get paid well againt Golovkin. So what will you consider a fair purse?"

Jacobs doesn't have to answer, and that is fine, but at least the question should be asked.

Anything above 2 million would mean he really has no desire for the fight.

I don't know if it's better or worse that he's not giving a number.

of course you want to be compensated for this fight.... nobody wants to be like Wilie Monroe Jr.

But after the 1.5 million he got from Showtime....yea,this fight ain't happening

If K2 refuse a purse bid GGG will be stripped and you can be sure he will pursue Canelo with or without the WBA belt and little care of actually unifying the entire collection of belts.

Based on his comments saying its about risk reward I expect to see Jacobs to go back to fighting the same mismatches haymon hand picks for him. He won a paper title that nobody respects and his best name on his resume before this weekend was Mora who dropped him and the fight was stopped after a freak leg injury. Just watch he going back to one sided mismatches for jacobs.

Everybody knows fight with Golovkin isn't happening.

What he should try to make is a fight with Lara. They're both Haymon fighters and both have something to gain from each other. Lara's looking for a path into MW and would be the best win on Jacob's resume.

How would asking above 2 million mean he doesn't want to fight when he just made 1.5 for his fight this weekend?
