You're right about this. I think some people assume that because he was on his feet that he wasn't out of it. They don't realize what taking clean, hard shots, while you're pretty much defenseless and out on your feet can do (permanent damage).I don't get why people think this was a bad stoppage. Did anyone see the blank look in Quillin's eyes after the SECOND time he was staggered in less than 30 seconds? He was up right but didn't even realize that a fight was going on. Had the ref let it go, Jacobs would have had a virtual free for all on Quillin who was basically defenseless.
I can't stand Quillin but saying that he should have been allowed to continued is asking for him to take potentially life altering damage because Jacobs would have hit him at full power and Quillin would have just sat there and taken it.Comment

Quillin didn't even realize the fight had been stopped, didn't make an argument at the time it was stopped, he was calmly and effortlessly guided to a stool, and only had a reaction once he got his marbles together. Dude was done and was saved to live another day. Replay that shhhh and pause at the point the ref turns from Jacobs back to Quillin, you'll see.Comment

Best comment today.

The best matchup IMO now would be Lara vs Satellite Dish Ears. Lara can bounce between MW and JMW probably, and he's about as slick as they come. Let's see if Jacobs has enough actual boxing smarts to catch someone that tricky. Besides, if the goal is GGG, all these MWs/JMWs need to get past Lara. They certainly won't go rounds with GGG without being slick and practically invisible for 12.Comment

Not a huge Jacobs fan, but I could be soon.
I don't fall for sob-stories, heard em all before, everyone has one..... but he's a great kid, and you can't help but wish him all the best.....
No matter how the critics paint it, Jacobs turned up and took care of his business, AND he is willing to give Quillin an immediate rematch.
Excellent breakout performance by Danny Jacobs.Comment
