The Quillin stoppage was a good stoppage.There is no debate about it

He stepped in because he thought Quillin was going down. That's why he was directing Jacobs to the neutral corner and was about to start the count. He turned back around and saw Quillin never went down. Quillin didn't grab the ropes to stay up but he brushed up against them. I wouldn't have ruled that a knockdown. Plus he never saw that so Im not sure he could've called it a KD if he didn't see it. When he turned back around Quillin was doing the bambi dance with his eyes looking like he just snorted an 8 ball.

I think he might have been stopping it from the impact of that shot alone. Why would he just assume quillin was going down and intervne?

His only out would have been to call it a kd saying the ropes held him up and give him a count.

He should of given him the standing 8-count (regardless of commission rules) because he clearly ****ed up in that sequence. I wanted a conclusive ending. Instead I was left b*tching out loud. I ****ing hate when refs are the story after the fight is over.

I agree, but it probably wouldn't have made a difference. I wish quillin would have held on or took a knee before he took that big shot at the end.

Because he ****ed up. But if you watch it again it did look like Quillin was going down. He should've let Quillin hit the deck before he directed Jacobs to the neutral corner. Earlier in the fight he stepped in too early when Jacobs was fighting out of the clinch. But ultimately he did the correct thing.

Yea...and the fact that quillin wasn't complaining tells the story.

if he thought/assumed Quillin was going down, then he thought wrong. Which reinforces that he was confused, which is why he stopped the action and eventually the fight. Quillin would have probably gone down again, and probably out, but let it happen free of controversy...for once in boxing please.

So many instances in boxing where a ref let's a fight continue, and the guy who got hurt wins. Or the guy who got hurt finally just gets TKO'ed conclusively. Quillin got TKO'ed and was going to lose, and he was probably so hurt that he feels it was a good mistake anyway. That's why he doesn't care about the ref's hesitation, cause he was actually hurt. The ref's f-ck helped me so f-ck it i'm not mad. I thank the ref. That's probably Quillin's thoughts. My friend who went to see the fight for the first time ever, it was his first boxing event, his text to me was that it was a waste of time going. Regretted and said he was better off just watching it on Showtime. I don't blame him for feeling that way.

Good stoppage, but both guys are cool. Quillin wasn't prepared for a Jacobs fast start! He starts fast. Real fast!! Plus these guys know each other in and out of the ring! Both are great fighters. Either one would give the Gstring difficulties!

Straight from the man who was getting punched in the face. Anybody that disagrees with Quillin needs their head examined.

Duran also thinks he was right in quitting against Leonard as does Victor against every opponent, so this doesn't mean anything. It's clear the ref had no idea what he was doing and Quillin is banking on a rematch.
