Well said, well put. Unless you are in the ring looking at the fighters eyeballs then you can't really judge from watching it on TV.

That stoppage was perfect. I usually would never agree with a 1st round stoppage where a fighter hasn't gone done, but the way Quillens legs froze up and he did the Frazier hop accross the ring, with how early in the round it was and how fresh Jacobs was.

He was defenseless, and all that was left was for him to eat a MASSSSSIVE shot from Jacobs rushing across the ring and loading up with everything he had on a defenseless Quillin. He would have been out cold, or ended up taking unnecessary punishment.

I hope we are finally rid of the Quillen Hype. While I don't dislike him as a person, his time as "Champion" was shameful.

So if the punch that Quillin did see coming knocked him senseless, what do we think would happen from the punch that he didn't see at all because he was dazed and confused, seeing stars?

Is that an argument for or against the stoppage?

with those flush counters I thought he woulda been able to hurt cotto. I guess his power is a bit overrated. Plus mosley said that canelo doesn't hit hard.

It was a bad stoppage in my opinion, Jacobs deserved the chance to finish him off.

My initial reaction was that it felt early, but then on the replay you can see it was definitely the right call.

Also- the overhead camera view they show in the recap- that further cemented the call. You can see how dramatically Quillin's head snaps to the side from that right hand. If it hadn't been stopped Quillin was going to get put out in a scary way.
