Comments Thread For: DiBella: Great Stoppage; Quillin Could’ve Been Killed

NEW YORK – Lou DiBella defended referee Harvey Dock for Dock’s stoppage of the Daniel Jacobs-Peter Quillin fight in the first round Saturday night.

Dock halted their WBA middleweight title fight 1 minute and 25 seconds into the first round with a disoriented Quillin still on his feet. Quillin (32-1-1, 23 KOs) never went down, but Jacobs’ crushing right hand to the temple left the former WBO middleweight champion stumbling across the ring on unstable legs.

Right hand shot to the temple had Quillin thinking he was playing Point Guard for the University of Temple. Lol jk, that was a big bomb though from Jacobs!

Quillin didn't even know where he was or that the fight was being stopped. He didn't complain in the post-fight interview. He's good with the stoppage, I'm good with the stoppage.

And I've always hated Quillin but gained a ton of respect for him after this fight. He just got TKO'd and the first loss of his career but he stayed in the ring and gave a post fight interview. I remember Broner running after he lost to Maidanda. Cotto never gives interviews after his losses. I know a lot of boxers will give interviews after losses but I didn't think Quillin had that type of character. I completely mis-judged him. I was wrong.

A bit much on Quillin Could've Been Killed but he right the stoppage was right on. He didn't want to see another Colon situation where the fight went on to long now he's in a coma.

I know us fans get pissed off and fighters get pissed off on early stoppages but there's a reason why their are refs in the sport. It's better to stop it to soon than to late in my opinion.

Jacobs needs to slow down on the PEDs before his head grows as much as Fraud Pedcheater Jr's did over the years. He already looks like a bobble head

Yeah right I'd love the chance to fight that sloppy imaginary frying pan swinging no-talent bufoon. Wouldn't even demand him to be tested and I'd still beat his ass.
