I wouldn't say many were even that bad of picks. Most had the talent but were either mismanaged or didn't have the heart to be the top of the elite.

It's not like Kovalev, Crawford, Fury, GGG, ect were making any kind of waves in their divisions at the time.

It also shows how good the boxers are of today compared to that era. A lot of the boxers who were dominating at the time were from the other generation like Klit bros, Pac/Mayweather/Mosley/Marquez, Hopkins, ect.

Loved James Kirkland's impression of Matt Damon in Team America World Police. "James Kirkland".

Can you blame them though? Look at the landscape at that particularly time. De La Hoya retired, Mayweather was also retired during that time, Calzaghe retired, Hopkins was coming off a loss to Calzaghe. The old generation was moving out of the sport and they needed new faces.

this right here in the grand spectacle of things they didnt do too bad, but of course alot of it was who was behind them pulling for them more than what their victories really earned them. I can probably say guerrero is the only one who really earned his way to a mega fight.

It was actually hard to finish that video. Pretty sure this was Max Kellerman's idea, he just wanted an opportunity to shed the monkey suit and show off his new traps.
