The smarting Klitschko has announced he will exercise his option for a contractual right to a re-match and Fury says he is happy to accommodate him. But along come the IBF to order him to first make a mandatory defence against a different Ukrainian, their number one contender Vyacheslav Glazkov, who is the Florida-based charge of the ‘grand dame’ of US boxing, the ever-feisty Kathy Duva.

What a load of BS this title situation is. I said in another thread that this type of thing with belts and rightful claims to championship is a major major part of why boxing is not as prominent as it used to be.

Basically what we have here is a sanctioning body that represents a portion of the title because it is one of many other organisations trying to make a buck/recognition, and interfering with the legitimacy of the heavyweight crown. In what world should that be the case? The world of boxing...

Sanctioning bodies or not, vacated belts or not, obligations or not - Tyson Fury is the Heavyweight champion of the world. The man that next beats him, is therefore the next heavyweight champion of the world and so on and so on. The sanctioning bodies really do mess up our sport. F**k them, we all know who the champion is and we all recognise him as such, if one body wants to try and break away so they can 'award' their 'version' of the title to go elsewhere then so what, we would simply have a division with a Champion alongside two other title holders, in other words, the mess that ruined the legitimacy of title claims. **** them
