You're right. To vacate it, he'd be at a huge loss considering realistically he probably can't make 154 much longer. Thus he'd be moving up to 160 inevitably.
Pacquiao fight seems interesting. Have a hard time seeing Pacquiao losing unless he is on the downhill from last May. Pacquiao probably would not fight above 147 again let alone at a 155 catch weight. But who can turn down that kind of doe. Plus you know good and well Freddie would want nothing more than to get revenge against Canelo.
Canelo should just keep both belts and if he is serious about being a 154lber than..idk...maybe make the ****in weight for once. Would have no problem him fighting someone else 154 for his next fight. Just so as long he fights GGG at some point next year.
I guarantee you Canelo will just pull a Cotto and **** around with catch weights, handicapping guys he fights at middleweight that aren't named Golovkin. Even though him not opting to respond to Golovkin calling him out is p*ssy **** to us hardcore fans, the mindless casuals will still tune in to see Canelo because he is the lineal champ at 160 now. His fan base and ppv would probably remain close to the same, probably less though because I mean come on, who draws more numbers at 160 then Cotto or Golovkin?
