Canelo only has 1 option concerning Middleweight title/Golovkin.

GBP/Oscar doesn't want their cash cow fighting GGG right now. Understandable.

If he fights anyone else at 160, it'll look bad.

If he gets stripped or drops the 160 belt, it'll look bad.

If he fights another catchweight fight vs. another 154 fighter, it'll look bad.

    Only one solution.

    Fight Pacquiao at 155 Catchweight.

You can't blame him for the catchweight. It's for Pac. Pac is small.

You can't blame him for not fighting Golovkin. Pac is a bigger star, it's a bigger fight, it's more money.

WBC can then strip him of the belt and Golovkin gets his belt.

Canelo saves face and makes more money.

Canelolujah is Boxing Biggest Superstar, he has tons of options.

Anything he does people will criticize it, thats how it is at that level.

I think he'll vacate and rematch Cotto at 154 lb, bypassing the problem entirely while leaving himself open to move to MW and challenge Golovkin later.

            he can.

and he'll look bad if he does.

especially since he won't fight at 154. but at catchweight.

I agree with that. If he cares so much about looking bad, then he has no options at all because none of them will suffice for everyone, even if he fought GGG at 160 someone would have something to say. Even if he fights Pac, he's fighting an old small man whose 3-3 in his last six fights and hasn't had a knockout in 7 years. But he's a big enough star right now and young enough to the point where he can afford to do a variety of different things.

He can fight Miguel Cotto at whatever weight they feel like. If Cotto's getting stripped of the title anyway then it doesn't matter. He and his team will spin it as "having unfinished business" or "settling the scorecard controversy" and everyone will nod along. It'll look fine for him.

Everyone who thought the first fight was close, probably every one of Cotto's fans, probably a good portion of the 900K houses that bought it the first time.
