Why hasn't Wilder fought his mandatory Povetkin?

That's exactly what it is.When Povetkin's coach said he was ready right now, he didnt mean it as in they are ready to schedual the fight right now, he meant it in the sense of Povetkin being able to beat Wilder when the fight does happen.
You are completely misinterpreting the quote to back up your baseless argument.

I agree the fight could've happened in February or March but Povetkin's team said they won't be ready until April or MayPovetkin only fought in November early/mid of that month, fighters usually only fight 2 or 3 times in a year there is no reason a fight with Alexander couldn't be made for February or March its a realistic time-scale but we need both guys to be for it.
I don't think Povetkin fight with Wach was as much pushing it back, should Povetkin not fight at all and just play the waiting game?
For WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder - the No. 1 ranked mandatory challenger is Alexander Povetkin of Russia, who also holds the WBC Silver title, and is scheduled to fight Mariusz Wach tonight in Kazan, Russia. A representative for Povetkin came over to the WBC's ongoing convention in China and told the assembly today that Povetkin will not be ready for his mandatory title challenge in January, when it’s due.
Now Povetkin's promoter is saying it'll happen "summertime" 2016
Andrei Ryabińsky, who promotes Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin (30-1, 22 KOs), is going to do everything possible to secure his fighter the mandatory shot against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs). The World Boxing Council ordered the fight at their recent convention. They approved Wilder's request to have a third voluntary fight on January 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.Comment

April early... could be worth it, did they say why is it that eye Injury he picked up because I can remember reading some article a while ago with them saying they could be ready very early.I agree the fight could've happened in February or March but Povetkin's team said they won't be ready until April or May

I just want this fight over and done with I think Wilder can win it but meh whatever, If Wilder intends on fighting 3 times in this year then the early January fight he has intended wont be a problem because April/May seems realistic so being Wilder makes easy work of whoever he has in January.Comment

They said he wouldn't be ready before the fight so at the time they said that the eye injury wasn't a factor.April early... could be worth it, did they say why is it that eye Injury he picked up because I can remember reading some article a while ago with them saying they could be ready very early.

well that worked with klit wilder waited him outBe honest, now.
Povetkin took the fight with Wach only because Wilder demanded the voluntary fight with Duhaupas. He didn't want to be inactive too many months.
After Povetkin beat Wach, the pampered, over-protected Wilder demanded ANOTHER voluntary.
Wilder is afraid to fight Povetkin, and is waiting for him to get a bit older.Comment

Wow, this thread is pathetic. The guy laid it all out showing it was indeed Povetkin who pushed the fight back and requested an extension, and you still have people blaming Wilder.
I'm not surprised though, this site is filled with idiots and biased people. But then again what do you expect from posters like Freedom. SMHComment

Because the fight is in Russia
Stephen Espinoza, the Executive Vice President and General Manager for Showtime Sports, told BoxingScene.com that his network is certainly willing to travel to Russia for a fight between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) and mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21KOs). Wilder was in action on Saturday night, when he headlined a Premier Boxing Champions on NBC broadcast. He stopped Johan Duhaupas in eleven rounds. The fight scored a knockout preliminary rating of 2.365 million.Comment

about.thousands posted MULTIPLE LINKS to back up his sources and they ALL checkout.Povetkin didn't choose the date, it was the day of a big event in Russia with several world title fight. BUT THE ONLY REASON POVETKIN FOUGHT WACH IS THAT WILDER DEMANDED A SECOND VOLUNTARY AFTER MOLINA AGAINST DUHAUPAS.
Povetkin fought Wach in early November, the craven Wilder is using this as an excuse to avoid him. Povetkin would be ready for February or March, except the pampered Wilder wants another THIRD voluntary in January to delay it several months longer.
