And this is exactly what I feared would happen, even though I like Fury and find him hugely entertaining. Sure, it's nice to have a fresh face at the top of the HW division and the entire sport of boxing itself, but it also means the unified titles are heading straight to splitsville just like in 1993.

It took 5 years for Wladimir to unify them with hard work and patiently fighting all mandatories, and the WBC was/is almost within reach, so this is not a good thing.

Ah that's ****ed up. I hate when stuff like this happens, the IBF are the best at sticking to their rules but c'mon giving Fury an exemption would be fair in this case.

Fury don't seem too bothered anyway but that vacant IBF title holds no relevance, even Wilder's WBC has more credibility.

The first fight was too successful and there is too much money in a rematch for it to not happen. I don't care if he vacates the IBF it's not like people don't know who the real champ is. It's Fury he beat the man who everyone knows was the true heavyweight champ. Somebody else will fight and win the vacant IBF belt but nobody will respect him as the world champ.
