Comments Thread For: Fury To Honor Klitschko Rematch, Likely Vacate IBF Title

Regardless of how many belts remain in tow by the time it happens, Tyson Fury is full steam ahead with plans for a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury pulled off a major upset with a 12-round unanimous decision win over the long-reigning and now former World heavyweight champion on November 28 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The win gained Fury recognition as the lineal heavyweight champion, but the slew of alphabet title he inherited also meant as many mandatory challenges that await the new king. So does Glazkov become the IBF champion or will he have to fight for the title?

If you look at the current rankings by the IBF (this was pre Klitschko - Fury)

      1. Vyacheslav Glazkov
      2. NOT RATED
      3. Tyson Fury
      4. Charles Martin
      5. Erkan Teper
      6. Steve Cunningham
      7. Artur Szpilka
      8. Lucas Browne
      9. Anthony Joshua
      10. Carlos Takam
      11. Andy Ruiz
      12. Bermane Stiverne
      13. Mariusz Wach
      14. Kubrat Pulev
      15. Andrey Fedosov

I'm guessing he'll fight Charles Martin for the vacant belt. If Martin beats that football, which he should.

The unbeaten and newly crowned heavyweight king is even prepared to toss the IBF title in a dumpster.
And this is exactly what I feared would happen, even though I like Fury and find him hugely entertaining. Sure, it's nice to have a fresh face at the top of the HW division and the entire sport of boxing itself, but it also means the unified titles are heading straight to splitsville just like in 1993.

It took 5 years for Wladimir to unify them with hard work and patiently fighting all mandatories, and the WBC was/is almost within reach, so this is not a good thing.

This is 4 fighters already being ducked by this big dumb goofy Turd. Dudes been "Champion" for 4 days and he's already written off fighting the top 4 challengers and is already losing a belt. What a big dumb goofy Turd.

Ah that's ****ed up. I hate when stuff like this happens, the IBF are the best at sticking to their rules but c'mon giving Fury an exemption would be fair in this case.

Fury don't seem too bothered anyway but that vacant IBF title holds no relevance, even Wilder's WBC has more credibility.

The first fight was too successful and there is too much money in a rematch for it to not happen. I don't care if he vacates the IBF it's not like people don't know who the real champ is. It's Fury he beat the man who everyone knows was the true heavyweight champ. Somebody else will fight and win the vacant IBF belt but nobody will respect him as the world champ. Same with Wilder he can fight all the bums Haymon picks out for him you have to beat the "Man" to become the "Man" and Fury did it.

I know, but it's sooooo annoying when there's another of these so-called "champs" going around and saying they're equal to the real, lineal champ. Wilder is already being putrid with the way he's claiming his reign to be more meaningful and superior than Fury's collection of belts - which he won by beating The Man.

"Hurrrrr durrrrr, I'm the heavyweight chaaaayump, baybay!" Ugh, fuck off. "Bum Squad" sure sounds about right.

That's ***ed up if he has to drop it. Wilder will probably get it soon then.

Yea that's what I think will happen too. Then wilder beats that guy. Wilder v fury end of the year best case scenario
