Comments Thread For: Fury-Klitschko Draws Heavyweight Numbers For HBO

The fight itself may have been a massive letdown in terms of action from bell to bell, but Tyson Fury's World heavyweight championship winning effort over Wladimir Klitschko on November 28 proved to be a blockbuster event on every level.

From playing to a sold-out crowd of 50,000 at ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, to Fury ending Klitschko's lengthy title reign, there was plenty to celebrate without actually focusing on the fight itself. The live presentation also made the HBO brass smile, as the Saturday afternoon matinee special averaged a staggering 1.038 million viewers. [Click Here To Read More]

    Good news.

No doubt HBO will televise the rematch.

That's a great number for an HBO day fight, hopefully they try to do more major fights out of Europe.

HW's pretty much always get good numbers, even if the division is as uninteresting as it has been over the last however many years. Crazy that US networks dont dedicate more time to it.

Monster ratings. Especially considering the fight aired early in the day due to the time zone differences. But for the night time replay of the the fight and replay of the the PPV fights basically a 3 fight card full of fights that already happened and fights where the majority of fans already knew the outcome and still you pull basically 1mil viewers? That's amazing. HBO went head to head with Haymon all day first with PBC and later the day with Showtime and destroyed them with basically replay fights. More people wanted to see Canelo/Cotto and Vargas (fight of year canidate) then live fights on Showtime lol

Fury blew the chance to shine. That big dumb goofy Turd played it safe and picked at a 40 year old corpse and threw methane powered powder puff punches not even landing 90. No wonder that big dumb goofy Turd is ducking Haye.

I wonder how many PPV's it did. I don't think Sky release numbers, but i bet they smashed it.

One thing about the 700,000 replays at night - you know those had to be mostly new people because I can't see anybody wanting to watch Klitschko/Fury again.

Silly comment. He signed to fight Haye, only for Haye to pull out TWICE.

As for these numbers, are they good? Fury used to break 3-5m when he was on UK terrestrial TV against no-hopers.
