You are really comparing Larry Merchant's alcohol use to Tarver's steroid use. Its not even in the same ballpark. Tarver is in a sport that can kill people. Plus if Tarver has 0 respect for the networks he is working for ie commentating then why should you care if he keeps his job or why he should keep his job. He worked for Showtime as a commentator and he also fought on Showtime and got them to pay him more than a million $ for a fight he tested + for steroids. He basically gave Showtime a big middle finger by doing this. Then he goes over to Spike as a commentator and then gets paid a ton of $ for another fight and not only puts up a ****ty fight he again gets popped for steroid use. Again he gives another network the middle finger.
He fights on these networks gets popped for illegal steroid use for fights on the very networks he has a commentary job and you still think he deserves a job on these very same networks. At least Showtime did the right thing and told Tarver to shove that finger up his as*.
Most of you all are for the PBC because you think it will bring boxing back to the masses. What does it say to the public about boxing or PBC for that matter that one of their most well known fighters has been popped for steroid use twice in less than 3 years and in light of his steroid use he is the face of boxing or PBC on Spike. Does is say that PBC is tolerant of steroid use. Of course it does. Does it say that PBC is not serious about cleaning up the sport and keeping it free of steroid use? Again, yes.
PBC has also refused to issue any statement on the matter. I guess fighters who are PBC fighters and test + for steroids, PBC will just ignore the fact. PBC has not suspended Tarver like the UFC would do. They won't even say a word about it. If it was marijuana use I would not care. But those who profess to care about the safety of fighters should give a damn.
