  • Comments Thread For: Fury Doubts Award, Says Joshua is Mouth-Watering Bout

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury believes he stands no chance of adding the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award to his title belts.

Fury was joined on the 12-strong short list by the likes of heptathlon world champion Jessica Ennis-Hill and Great Britain's Davis Cup talisman Andy Murray.

But forthright and often controversial views make Fury a divisive figure, and while he says he would love the recognition, the 27-year-old has already dismissed the prospect.

I don't think he will either, although he does deserve it.

I heard the interview live on the radio on the way to work this morning. Unfortunately there's too many bigots in Britain to ever vote Fury the SPOTY, but he does deserve it.

Fury doesn't need the title. He IS the sports personality of the year. The title needs him.

Do you not see the irony of calling people bigots, when Fury is clearly the bigoted one?

He's not though. He has plenty of gay friends, along with ******s, ***s, blacks etc.

The article completely twisted his words and was nothing more than a blatant hatchet job.

Unfortunately for Tyson, Lewis Hamilton is going to win the award. However a win over either Wilder, AJ or Haye (when he takes 10%) coupled with a couple title defences in 2016 will see him win it.

Andy Murray? He pretty much won the Davis Cup on his own. Britain hasn't won it for 80 years or something daft like that.

It's too late just like the Davis cup triumph. Votes are far gone by now.
