I like Canelo but he's not what the "Chicano" people believe him to be....imo he lost to Lara & the Cotto fight was a draw plus got schooled by Mayweather....Canelo is a B+ Solid Competitor but is not Elite....GGG will destroy this redhead if he ever gets in the ring with him at 160lbs....the only people who will deny this are Mexican-american (Chicano) fanboys & Mexican women.....

As someone who not a fan of Canelo, and thought Lara beat him, his win over Cotto was quite clear cut, and an actual step up for him in development.

Canelo's offense is A+ stuff. His defense is underrated. The only thing he lacks IMO is foot work. Trout fight could've went either way, same can be said for the Lara fight. I thought although most of the rounds were close Canelo beat
Cotto 8-4. His only lopsided loss came at the hands of Floyd Mayweather. No shame in that. Canelo's a solid Mexican fighter. If he can drain GGG under 158 I give him a good shot at beating him too.

Canelo's actual footwork isn't bad, its actually quite good. Its just that his feet are so SLOW thats the problem. They are not fast enough to get him where he need to be when he needs to be there to be truly spectacular.

We now know that he is a very good fighter, who struggles with pure boxers, because of his foot speed.

He did well vs Miguel because Miguel had to get inside on him to do work, making the feet not an issue.

Plus he's supported by the most loyal fanbase ever, if he was American he would've quit boxing after the Mayweather fight since American fans would've immediatley stopped watching/supporting him and deemed him as a hypejob forever, non American fans actually give their fighters chances.

Canelo is not a great fighter, He is a very good fighter. I think the issue here is that they are trying to compare him to Mexican greats, like Morales, Marquez, Barrera, Chavez etc...and he is not at that level. He still has time to reach that level, he seems to be getting better with time. But as it stands he is not great.
