I've seen this with many commenting that Wlad was never worth a damn in the first place. Well, you don't hold a title for nine and half years, being a hype job or phony. He's very talented and he went up against an opponent he couldn't pull the trigger against. I tmade for a bad fight, sure, but every fighter has been involved in a bad fight. It happens. Losses also happen. I'm not tossing him under the bus just like that. The facts remain that he has had 68 professional bouts, winning 64 of them and scoring 54 knockouts. Few heavyweights ever get to those numbers. And for the majority of that time, he was fighting in championship fights. The man has paid his dues and risen from three setbacks that would have sent most guys into journeyman or gatekeeper status and bounced back with one of the longest reigns in history. His place is secure, despite what happened in this fight. Should he have pulled the trigger? Absolutely. But one bad night doesn't mean the guy is garbage. His legacy is secure no matter what he does from here on out. Even if you label him a one trick pony, well, the one trick worked for ten years. I'm still a fan, although more of a fan of his earlier years of course.
This phenomenon with dropping people over one loss is common these days and probably always has been. It's fair weather fandom all the way. I was a fan of Chavez, Sr. before he lost and after. Same with Trinidad. Same with Morales. Same with Canelo. A loss can be great for a fighter coming up, since it exposes what they're doing wrong and making them deal with it before they become too complacent to even care. For Canelo, the early loss has only helped him. For Wlad, he is nearly forty. He can hang them up, but I still believe he'd take Wilder down given the chance and at this point, the idea has to look great to the "Bronze Bomber"- older fighter at the end and a name all the same. I think Wlad has enough to take him if he will. Got to pull the trigger, though.
Ain't nobody rockin' B-Suth or J-Hack avis except for me and Mike D. Watch ****riders get on the wagon as soon as the winner of the megafight prevails.
