So after the 3 Megafights this year...

So after 3 FOTY contenders this year were total snooze fests:

canelo v cotto had 1-2 rounds that were moderately entertaining
pacman v may billed as one of the biggest fights of the century, one of the biggest anti climaxes ever
Klit v fury one of the most boring and disappointing fights of the year, good to see a new champ but the amount of action was ridiculously poor.

the boxing gods finally delivered a fight that had more action in 3 rounds than in 36 rounds of the above fights ^

bute and degale THREW DOWN last night

what a fking fight! i was watching at 6.am and couldn't sleep afterwards i was so hyped

    appreciate this WAR

Shows you how much boxing has changed. Before guys would try to put on a great performance, now they're just satisfied with doing enough to win.

Canelo-Cotto was entertaining. I haven't seen degale-bute yet, but surely you haven't forgotten about Miura-Vargas so fast, have you?

Degale and Bute could be the fight of the year at this point.

Boxing needs a dose of Maidana & Khan.

really? i thought it was a massive letdown, there was about 10 seconds in the 8th round when they went to toe to toe, the rest of the fight was just cotto jabbing and moving and canelo following him around the ring landing single punches.
It wasn't as boring as the other 2 but still a big letdown IMO.

thanks man i forgot about vargas mirua!

Canelo-Cotto was entertaining throughout, great display of skills in that fight. Mayweather-Pacquiao was very entertaining as well, not exciting but I enjoyed seeing Mayweather neutralize Pacquiao like no one ever has.

As for Wlad-Fury, the early rounds was boring but it picked up as Fury became more relaxed in there, when Fury looked to press more Wlad kept holding, Weeks didn't help the situation either. What bugged me out most was, every time Fury looked to fight out of the hold Weeks would break them.

Yea there is always a weird balance in boxing of winning & being entertaining. I feel like at the top, when you have already gotten the asses in the seats, you have gotta stink the joint out to lose those asses in the seats on a whole other level before no one takes those seats next time thus winning should be valued over being entertaining.

I feel like thats always been the case tbh doe. Go watch some of those old non-super fight Ali bouts. Omg they are boring as **** to watch. Go watch some old timey non-HW, non title fights. Some of that **** looks like guys are just doing some new sorta dance where you mimic the other guy for a couple minutes before resting. That **** gets glossed over cuz who's wanting to watch ****ty old time fights when there are plenty of good ones out there.

I've often felt boxing should change the rules like other sports do more often to keep boxing as entertaining as possible. How you go about that is debatable, but I think there are plenty of ways to do so so the reality is guys who win in un-entertaining ways are doing so within the rules of boxing that could be changed to not allow guys to win in such un-entertaining ways.

Not at the highest level anymore, everyone at that level are not very very cautious.

i know ill probably get called a f@g or something but i think boxing should do what the UFC does in the respect of 'fight night bonuses' when it comes to KO's and Fight of the night.

gives an incentive to be entertaining, a win win for everyone surely?
