  • Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury Grabs Heavyweight Throne, Shocks The World

by David P. Greisman - DUSSELDORF — For the first time in quite a long time, there is a new heavyweight champion. The end of Wladimir Klitschko’s reign came in a manner few expected, with Tyson Fury outboxing him and winning a clear unanimous decision.

The common logic was the same line of thinking for pretty much everyone who had sought to unseat Klitschko during his extended reign. If Fury were to score the upset, logic dictated that he would need to do so as a result of power, with heavy hands landing on a chin that had shattered more than a decade ago, had held up surprisingly well since then but had still seemed as if it merely needed the right person to crack it once again.

Fury never cracked Klitschko’s chin, though he did land on the chin and head with 68 of his 86 landed punches, according to CompuBox. One of those shots, a left hook toward the end of the ninth round, looked as if it momentarily wobbled Klitschko, who handled it well and never was in trouble.

He was already in trouble from what Fury had been doing for much of the eight preceding rounds. And he didn’t appear to know how to handle it. [Click Here To Read More]

The rematch should be in the UK. Wembley Stadium.

What a horrible, horrible fight. I thought some of Wilder's fights were bad, but this was just beyond awful. Rd 3...three total punches landed. Hard to believe these are paid professionals at the top of their sport. Just awful. I hope Fury fights Wilder next. I think Fury wld get KO'd. Please no rematch.

Tyson Fury didn't so much win the HW title, as much as Wladimir gave it to him.

I have never seen a champion give his title away like that. No sense of urgency, no commitment to his punches, just showed up to give up his title.

I agree. Fury holds the cards now. Unless there is something already drawn up in the contract regarding the location.

i concur, utter garbage. whatever happened to competitive heavyweight boxing with excitement and skilled performance. atleast a number of good things will come from the bad...the "crown" is out of german judges hands, it will inevitably change hands a few times over the next three or four fights...assuming the ***** will fight ANYBODY! but, its the gobbing off that beating a really cr4p heavyweight that will be irritating until he meets either david haye or deontay wilder. watch the ***** avoid these two like the plague.
                yes...shocked the world....lol

True heres a comment from the guardian.com..which I fully agree with...

Klitschko has spoken in German but my grasp of the language [guesses that German for “rubbish” is. Fails] isn’t brilliant. But let’s just say he didn’t look impressed by losing the title or Fury’s Aerosmith rendition.

But perhaps his biggest disappointment will be that he lost in such half-hearted fashion. Any half-decent heavyweight would have fancied their chances against Klitschko on that performance. Was he old? Injured? Ready to retire? Psyched out by Fury? We’ll find out in the next few months, perhaps but Ali v Frazier that was not. It really was a sad, pale ghost of the great heavyweight fights of the past, even with the shock result.

great win but could he do it again if Wlad throws punches? Even so Hes still a top 3 guy as I stated..wlads stil the better fighter as the same reason I say Rousey is the better fighter..one loss when you fight a bad fight is not telling...maybe next one? I lost a bet with a non poster here to post a pic for a month oh well...im a man of my word...

Fury fans I will cheer for him!
