One thing to keep in mind. Tyson attacked. he was relentless, so much so that even at his worse, he put Douglas down and...some still say it was a long count. for Douglas to do what he did he had to stop Tyson's attack. Ditto for Ali against Liston BTW. both Liston and Tyson could punch with both hands and did not need to set to throw.
Klitschko just had to be nullified from the jab. Once the jab was stopped...Klitschko needs a stationary opponent to take out. Again, idiots like Elroy have some people convinced that a weak era champion like Vlad, who has a couple of weapons, is a straight out genius. That is debatable. The only guy Vlad fought recently who had some concept of movement prior to fury was povatkin...and Povatkin fights like an olmpic fighter, straight in, straight back...big deal.
So: going up against a fighter with power in both hands, who can throw lots of shots, use both hands for ko power, and can beat you in so many ways is not the same as fighting a guy who needs a jab to work off and can only attack a stationary opponent.
What we had tonight was the classic younger fighter coming up, taking out the old veteran and bringing in a new era... in some respects it is the way things should be.
Douglas beating Tyson was far from that. Mike was on top of the world, nobody even thought about him losing (to Douglas anyway) because the guy was seen as virtually invincible in those years...Douglas was a massive underdog and stopped the train dead in its tracks whilst it was going full steam...different situations.
