Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury Vows To Shock World Like Ali, Buster Douglas

Tyson Fury invoked the spirit of Muhammad Ali and Buster Douglas as he declared that he could pull off one of heavyweight boxing's great sensations by ending Wladimir Klitschko's seemingly eternal reign as world champion.

In Saturday's bout at Duesseldorf's football stadium, Fury, the British challenger named after Mike Tyson, will be a long-odds outsider to defeat the Ukrainian who has ruled the impoverished global heavyweight scene for a decade.

This dude will be hiding out so hard after tomorrow he'll be living in an abandoned septic tank sneaking around at night sipping sewer water stealing dog food.

Fury would do well to last all 12 and not fold like a beach chair the minute he gets tapped on the chin.

Hes got so much to prove against Wlad.

          .

The problem with this ridiculous boast is that Klitschko is not as popular as Ali or Mike Tyson. If Fury wins (which he won't), only about 100 people in the world will care.

The principle difference between Fury, Ali and Douglas is that Tyson and Foreman never saw what was coming when they bit the dust. But Klitschko can see Fury coming from last Tuesday. I expect Fury is going to look interesting mounted on Klitschko's wall, although I'm not sure how impressive a fat cow is going to be hung up there....

No, It will be a huge win, Klitschko is more popular than Mayweather, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Roy Jones, Julio Cesar Chavez around the world, who are all local figures; still not as popular as Tyson or Ali.
