Fans will forgive a defeat but they won't forgive a bottler.
Precisely right. Lara's a talent, there's no doubt about it - but his tactics were poor that night. I wasn't expecting him to fight on the inside for 12 rounds but his continual back-peddling was a poor show and there's no reason to think he'd do anything different after the first meaningful Gennady punch lands.

GGG would cut the ring off more effectively than Canelo and I'd expect a mid to late rounds TKO. Lara's power looked good against Zaveck but beating up a stationary has-been tells us nothing new.

Lara just KO'ed Jan Zaveck. Now I think he has a chance against GGG.

Lara took a paycut in this fight as opposed to his previous ($650k from $1mill), and there were rumors that the PBC will be pulling back their budget, maybe more inline with what HBO pays fighters. So that makes me more hopeful that Lara would be willing to fight GGG for a reasonable amount.

Common opponent with Canelo, who's from Texas where Golovkin wants to break-into the market. Mexican fans would come out to support GGG given Lara's fights with Alvarez & Angulo. Good stylist clash of styles between high level fighters. Lara has little chance, but I'd like to see Golovkin's hunting skills tested at a high level.

"I want to clean out my current division, but if I cant then I'll consider fights in the next division up"

Hmmmm. Sounds an awful lot like GGG's philosophy. I wonder if Lara will take as much heat for his position. I'm guessing not.

Do you think he's learned from that?

golovkin would knock lara out, and get very little credit from the guys who seem to think lara is ducking lara.

golovkin might be the best fighter at applying pressure in boxing. he's going to pick up where angulo left off. angulo has no jab, is slow, and has lesser skills. he still ahd lara on the ropes, where he was able to land to the body and eventually drop him hard.

lara has no shot against golovkin. none. it will be a massacre.

                Make it happen.

Clearly the best opponent GGG will have fought.

do you care to explain the angulo, vanes, and molina fights?

anybody who thinks this guy has a shot is f#cking deluded. go watch him fight vanez, carlos molina, and angulo. these are smaller, lesser fighters than golovkin.

                    elite doe!
Angulo was his best fight. Did he not get up off his ass, adjust and stop Angulo? That's like saying Bradley wasn't ready for Marquez after the Providnikov fight.

that he was in his most entertaining fight against angulo isn't a good thing dude.
