At 25 years old, is Canelo Alvarez already a borderline future Hall of Famer?

Okay so Canelo gots the 2nd best resume of a 25yr old in your opinion? Top 5 maybe?

The guy is doing **** most 25yr olds aren't doing in boxing I think we can agree on that without **** measuring opposing fighters resumes like we're 10yr olds hyping pokeman cards or w/e nerdy card bs kids are f#cking with these days.

I think you are being too harsh on Canelo. I agree that Estrada MAY have a better resume, but Canelo's is very good. I think the Trout and Lara fights were both extremely close and could have gone either way. The Trout fight - I was not impressed with Canelo's activity and had the KD making the difference. I had it 6-6 in rounds but could see 8-4 Canelo to 7-5 Trout. The Lara fight I thought Canelo was much improved against a better fighter and again a hard fight to score, very close. I am of the opinion that body shots are often overlooked in boxing and I personally score them, so again I had Canelo in that fight, but could see a draw and anything up to 7-5 Lara. Cotto I scored 7-5 Canelo.

Where I agree is that he is definitely not a HOF'er yet, and although I give him all 3 fights above, and that is exceptional in itself. He doesn't have any really exceptional performances like I said in my original post. Plus he doesn't yet have longevity at the top level, so a while to go yet. But I don't think you should be so down on him, because he has done a lot. He was only shown to be overmatched against Floyd - all the guys above, whether you think he won or lost, they were close and I think he has proved he belongs at an elite level.

With how wacky the HOF can be who knows. He definitely gots the best or one of the best 25 year old resumes doe so he's clearly on the right path.
Borderline HOF is self explanatory. You do not need a dictionary for that. But if you need borderline defined, according to google it's "barely acceptable in quality, or as belonging to a category, on the borderline."

If he fights Golovkin he won't ever make it...he's too short and stubby for quillen and Jacobs...he can beat lee and Saunders but that won't get him in the hof...he still has a ways to go...

He needs to beat a few legit talents who he doesn't outweigh by 15 lbs first.

Boxing is in a sad state if we have to praise a guy who's a world campion in his prime and has 48 fights for having a decent resume. So what if he's 25? Ray leonard had beaten benitez duran and hearns by then...and was only 4 yrs into his career. Alvarez is 10 years into his pro career ffs.

Are we going to ignore the fact that Leonard was a golden gloves champion and gold medal winner and had countless Amateur experience while Canelo had to "learn on the job"?

There's another person, Gennady Golovkin, who is 10 years into his career. But he doesn't even have half the resume and accomplishments of Canelo. But he is top 3 P4P. Indeed boxing is in a sad state when that's who we praise nowadays. A 33 year old who has like 1/3rd of the resume of a 25 year old. But that's who we praise today. W rather praise the guy who is beating no hopers by KO in 3-4 rounds, rather than priase the guy taking on elite fighters and winning close decisions. Because beating up C fighters is so much better than close fights with elites.
