Canelo Is Not a Middleweight!

Did you read the whole thing??? I said he should vacate and fight GGG when he's ready, what's so absurd about that? If I was his team I would look for the biggest money fight at 54 and if there's nothing out there then move to a full 160 Andy start with somebody like a rosado type and eventually fight GGG.Comment

If he wants to fight at Caneloweight, let him. But I find it hard to believe people want to rank him no.1 at 154 and top 5 at middleweight because of his fights at 155. That makes no sense to me
The titles are really the only thing pushing this fight so much, at least in my viewComment

You are missing my point or you just don't agree with it. GGG is the middleweight mandatory. Any other situation Canelo can play his games and I may not like it but it is legit. In this case if he wants the strap he has to defend it at the full weight limit. No gimmicks. No games. If not vacate and fight at whatever catch weight he wants. Even against GGG.
Middleweight isn't necessarily 160lb, so it wouldn't be right to say '160 pound challenger'. I'm against one fighter trying to force another fighter to weigh less, because their own body isn't yet 'ready', at least in championship fights. Each fighter should be able to come in as they like, as long as it doesn't exceed 160.
That being said, it doesn't reflect the situation in reality. If Canelo wants to hang on to his belt, he's going to have to pay GGG a lot of money to come in at 155. I think a weight of 157 would be fair, with GGG getting a fair split of the purse. If Canelo wants to keep his belt, and GGG doesn't agree to a catchweight, it'll go to purse bids... where GGG is entitled to 45% of the purse, with no catchweight, as interim champion. That's assuming the WBC keep to their word.
Canelo can always pay step aside fees, or vacate his title. If Golovkin unifies MW, i'm really not sure where Canelo can go, as he gets older and is unable to drain closer to 154 anymore.Comment

Well, you're wrong there. GGG may well accept 155 or higher depending on what Canelo offers him. As long as its 160 or under, its valid as a middleweight contest. If Canelo offers something like 60/40, I think itd be crazy for Golovkin to turn that down at 155... unless he really believes he can't make the weight anymore (he is 33). Like I said, 157 seems realistic and fair.
Your point should be what I already explained - GGG has a big bargaining chip if Canelo wants to keep the belt. As interim champion, GGG is entitled to 45% split of the purse if purse bids are called, at the full weight limit - if no agreements can be made between K2 and Goldenboy.Comment

Canelo fans: Cotto is the middleweight champ and is a scared coward for ducking GGG. Catchweights are for cowards.
Canelo beats Cotto
Canelo fans: Canelo is not a middleweight! 155 isn't middleweight, GGG needs to come down to 155 for a fight.
always good laughs here.Comment

I just can't agree with you. As the mandatory GGG should demand full 160 pound contest. If Conelo declines strip him. Simple.
Well, what is your point? That Canelo has to defend at 160?

Thread failed massively when you said show any other Middleweight who can make 155... well the division is 160 so making 155 is basically saying your too fat for 154... therefore move over to 160.
I like Canelo but this avoiding the big boys at 160 is making him a diva and the only people who will defend this are blind sheep.
It really is a valid point that I am making. Whether people have a dog in this fight is another issue. There is a technical definition for what division a fighter is competing at and then there is the reality of what that fighter's weight class really is. Pacquiao fighting for a super welterweight title didn't make him a super welterweight, same thing with Cotto at 160, and same thing will Canelo at 160. Canelo will become a middleweight soon, but he is not there yet. I am not making excuses for him, vacate if he isn't ready for GGG. But, let him fight true 160 pounders before he takes on GGG.Comment
