Wow, you are such a moron. Because he fought 4 junior middleweights at 155, that makes him a middleweight? You understand it's common for contracts to allow fighters to come in 1-3 lbs. higher than the division weight limit, for non title fights right? I swear, you can tell who has actually competed in boxing, actually had fights in boxing. Yeah, he won the belt against a guy who came in at 153.5, and who will finish his career at junior middleweight. But, nah, Canelo is a middleweight. I mean he's fought other middleweights, right? Holy ****, I swear, some people....
Canelo Is Not a Middleweight!

He is a junior middleweight, that needs to go up to 160, not 155. To be a middleweight, you need to fight middleweights, and not guys who come in at 153.5 for a "middleweight" title fight. Let him fight a few true 160 lb. guys, let him come in at the 160 lb. limit, let him take some punches from the big boys. What's wrong with that? You call him a middleweight and he's never fought a damn middleweight in his life.If he's not a middleweight and he's not a junior middleweight, what the hell is he?
Answer - he's either a 'super junior middleweight' or a 'micro middleweight'.
Unfortunately for him those weight classes haven't been invented yet. Maybe he's the guy that will create those new divisions?Comment

if you weigh in anywhere from 155-160...you're a MW....if Nelo could make 154 he would be weighing in at 154...the kid is a MW...I still support his newly invented "Nelo Weight" weigh class though....ESPECIALLY for a fight against Lil G....why? because Team Lil G said they'd fight ANYBODY who was considered a big a fight on PPV at 154 and 168....if that's the case, 155 shouldn't be a problem....he can kill two needs with one fight....the belts and the PPV opponent....can't get any sweeter than thatComment

Paul Williams wasn't a middleweight. There's a big difference with being a middleweight and being forced to move up to middleweight because no one wants to fight you at the lower weight classes. Some fighters will take big risks for the glory or for the money. Sergio Martinez fought many middleweights, and I don't hesitate to say that the punishment and injuries he incurred in those fights were a result of taking punches from naturally bigger opponents. Yes, he won those fights, but it was at a great price.
Don't get me wrong, both were great fighters and had a lot of heart to take on some of the challenges they did.Comment

no i'm not, who says canelo can't have the bigger purse? i mention Hopkins get 16 mils for the fight but oscar made 40 mils in that fight. canelo can have the bigger piece of the pie, he should be he has the star power but GB better make GGG sacrifice to come down to 155 worth it.Okay, I am done. We are not getting anywhere with this. Umm, yeah let's see who has the star power between GGG and Canelo, who pulls the higher paperview numbers? Wow, really ****** statement on your part.
GGG has fought several fights between 161-162 lbs. Does that mean he is a super middleweight? God**mn, you are ******ed. I am done with this.
No is not because just like you write above it was common for non title fights, but canelo already fight and now held MW title. so there you are Canelo is in fact a middle weight. cotto get a lot of ****s for doing this and ducking GGG, now the same ****s will be thrown at canelo. you better just swallow itAgain, it's really ****** to think Canelo is a middleweight because he has fights at 155 lbs. You do understand it's common for contracts to allow fighters to come in 1-3 lbs. above the weight limit, for non title fights, right?Last edited by betmen; 11-27-2015, 05:39 AM.Comment
