What's the angle in the fight?

Neither guy has a belt. One was fighting at middleweight and in theory is about to move down to 154. The other was fighting at 140 and moved up to welterweight. One is with Roc Nation, the other is with Haymon. Would be a difficult fight to make and nothing would really be at stake.

Don't see this fight even being considered by either side, let alone happening.

Kahn needs a legitimate opponent. Cotto wants money fights. Yeah I haven't seen any consideration, I'm just not seeing much right now for either.

Let's assume Khan doesn't get the Pacquiao fight.

Khan and Danny Garcia are #1 and #2 in the WBC welterweight rankings. Historically, the WBC belt has been the most prestigious and lucrative in boxing.

If Khan participates in the WBC welterweight tournament, the brackets will surely be set up to try to guarantee a Khan vs Garcia final. If it's an 8 man tournament, that gives Khan two fights for good money that are designed to make sure he wins and then a big fight with Garcia in the finals to try to avenge his loss as well as become a two division world champion.

That's a good path. I think Kahn getting a Cotto fight does more for him, more risk but more $$ up front.
