I had it 7-5 for Canelo as well. Once I heard the scorecards..I was like oh snap..thats not right. The fight was alot closer. Even 8-4 woulld of been ok. Canelo dwarfed Cotto the size advantage was huge.Comment

1. Cotto (could have easily went to Alvarez)
2. Cotto (Lampley gave to Alvarez, how?)
3. Alvarez
4. Cotto
5. Alvarez
6. Cotto (could have easily went to Alvarez)
7. Alvarez
8. Alvarez
9. Alvarez
10. Cotto
11. Alvarez
12. Alvarez
I had it 7-5 Alvarez, but could have easily been at least 8-4 Alvarez or even, 9-3 Alvarez. I gave Cotto swing rounds on my card to even out my bias of being a huge Canelo fan.
Like in the Lara fight there comes a point when the opposition in front of Canelo finally gets so caught up in moving they forget there's a FIGHT that needs to be won and usually get dogged out in the second half of the fight.
It was a close fight but most definitely they got the decision right. Lampley is legally blind, in convinced. Comoubox was a joke. Cotto did what he could without staying in harm's way (arms reach of Canelo) like everyone else does. Survives in some sense.
Thoughts?
I walked away with mixed feelings about the fight. I felt that Miguel did not do enough. You just can't win a fight with just a jab. His combos seem like he was just working the mitts they did not had that explosiveness, like he was holding back like when working with Freddy.
His right hand was effective on the first 2-3 rounds then it stopped completely. Barely worked the body, and seems like Canelo took his left hook away.
Again, I had Canelo wining the fight by two rounds and one of them could be have gone to either.
The judges were atrocious with their scores, and I truly believe that the only way that Miguel could win was by stopping Canelo.
Where did the angles go?
Little head movement by Miguel.
Soft combinations, where the power go?
Lack of body work.Comment

I never buy pay for views because I get HBO and Showtime and they always show these big fights the next weekend. I see the same fight for free. This was my favorite fight but I haven't seen it yet so I haven't scored it. I have read everything I could about the fight and how it went. From what I have read it seems like the average score card has Canelo winning 9 rounds to 3rounds. The score cards I have read vary from 10 rounds to 2 rounds for Canelo to 7 rounds to 5 rounds for Canelo. Cotto scored it 8 rounds for Cotto to 4 rounds for Canelo. Cotto also scored both his fight with Trout and his fight with Mayweather 8 rounds to 4 rounds in his favor. Cotto thought he was robbed in all three fights so he stormed out of the ring and refused to be interviewed. If Cotto goes the distance he is always going to say he won.Comment

I had it 116-112 for Canelo. It could have been 115-113, but no less than that. Some rounds were competitive, but overall Canelo landed the harder shots, came forward, countered much better and showed really good defense.Comment

Im glad to see some people can be objective. That resembles my final score (though not the actual rounds.)
Im puertorican, and I acknowledge Canelo won fairly, close-ish, but clean.
I also think Cotto did very well, and Im proud of his performance. He showed chin, stamina, and movement the likes of which he hadn't shown before.
Also, the fact that many people arrived to 7-5 or 8-4 cards, giving Cotto different rounds in each card (some people got 8-4 giving Cotto rds10 and 11, while others had the same score without giving him a single round past the 6th) goes to show it was a tough fight to score; nowhere near the blowout/beatdown some people are claiming.
Again, Canelo won fair and square, and in doing so he proved how good he is, which relieves me cause I can say my guy held his own against a good fighter.Comment

No problem with your score. I had Canelo by 2 and one of them could have gone either so at the end Canelo would have still won.
